I just found out they've discontinued this beer. I loved this stuff. Anyone have any rec's that tasted like this beer?

It's a Maibock so Rogue Dead Guy Ale is probably the best of that style. Others are Shiner 99 and the originators of the style, Spaten Premium Lager (Munich Helles).

the glissade is very light, and the dead guy is a malty, hoppy maibock. i think abita andygator is a closer approximation to glissade than rogue's dead guy.

I was so bummed when I found out this was discontinued, too! No suggestions, just wanted to commiserate. I only have one left that I hoarded from last year.

Maybe, I'm working off memory. I had a Glissade a long time ago. Although I find Dead Guy to be very light. The whole Maibock/Helles style is absurdly bland to my hop burned pallet though.

Just had a John John dead guy and I didn't realize it was a maibock until y'all brought it up. Do they use that pacman yeast for ales and lagers or something?

I don't know how Rogue does it. But the homebrew recipes I just googled seem to mostly use pacman. But some use WY 1056 or other mild, clean yeasts.

You know, I agree on the andygator comparison now that I think about it.
