LOTR Trilogy Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind The Departed No Country for Old Men The Big Lebowski The Dark Knight Inception Memento Pixar Movies in General (Greatest year for animation probably) Adaptation Children of Men Inglorious Basterds Kill Bill Snatch Lost in Translation The Hangover Zombieland Shaun of the Dead Zodiac Minority Report just to name a few movies that i think the general audience enjoys, at least on this board

90s was a great decade for drama, but shite for comedy. Sure it had Dumb and Dumber and The Big Lebowski, but compared to the 2000s with Apatow and Wright, it doesn't hold a candle to it.

While they are indeed great, the 2000s certainly aren't the best for animation, especially due to the basic death of 2-D animation on the big screen. The 90s was the greatest time for animation in general.

2011 was shite for sure, but I don't see any reason its looking to be horrible, especially with 2012 looking to be the best year in film in over a decade.

2012 is going to be awesome. And I thought 2010 was a pretty solid year. 2011 was just barren though

You know it's a weak decade when these are some of the movies which top the list for best movies of the decade. The early '90s produced more quality movies than the entire '80s decade.

Of course most people are going to say the 2000s because those movies haven't had as much time to be romanticized yet. I agree with the OP the 70s was the worst IMO. I hated Star Wars, Superman and Jaws

Yeah, let me write down your name and know you aren't to be taken seriously. There were more films released in 70s besides those three films, like: The Godfather The Godfather Part II One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest Chinatown A Clockwork Orange Taxi Driver Network Rocky The French Connection Patton Close Encounters The Exorcist American Graffiti Blazing Saddles Monty Python & the Holy Grail Monty Python's the Life of Brian Rocky Horror Picture Show Deliverance Young Frankenstein The Last Picture Show Dog Day Afternoon Animal House Alien Marathon Man The Last Detail Dirty Harry All the President's Men The Deer Hunter Apocalypse Now Halloween MASH Cabaret Annie Hall Now please apologize, because I'm just going to guess that you either thought that about half these films were made in another decade, or you haven't seen these films and thus don't know shite about film.

FIFY. Seriously, don't act like you've seen even a fourth of that list. We both know you're lying.

If you have (I hope not), then your taste in film is completely terrible. This isn't an opinion, but a fact.

So I'm going to post in here, and say that the rise of Youtube alone knocks the 2000s from ever being able to be on this list.. because of that, I would have to go with ... 80s? or 90s? Personally I would have to go with the 80s, because I have seen waaaay less from the 80s that I like. People that said 70s ETA: OML: OCELOT!!

Those are just a few that popped in my head. It wasn't an exhaustive list. I just think "worse decade ever" implies that the 80s completely sucked. I didn't even mention Goonies, Ghostbusters, etc. The 80s were great if for no other reason than John Hughes and Steven Spielberg. Movies may not have been the masterpieces they were in the 70s but they were fun just like the decade itself.

As said above, that's just a negative way to put it. Maybe "Weakest Decade of Films?" 80's or the 60's. Probably the 80's. And it's not because they are bad decades, it's just the 40s, 50s, 70s and 90s are so good. A case can be made for the 2000s, but I find that decade to be slightly more quality focused.

I've been going through a 50's rampage, and am blissfully ignorant of the 40's, which while I know it has Citizen Kane, Casablanca, and It's a Wonderful Life I've always assumed as a rather weak decade for film. I've just gone through most of the 50s classics and am about to start on that decade.

I'm not seeing much voting. Four pages of dogging a guy for saying the 70's. I love the 70's. BUT, how about everybody say a decade. Just a thought. 80's for me. :notducking: Just compare the MWADS awards. The top 20 films of the 90's & 00's blow away the 80's. Maybe not in comedies, sci fi and nastolgia for some. But in pretty much everything else 90's and 00's win IMO. According to us, The Breakfast Club is the best movie of the 80's. When we are done with all the MWADS, 30's-00's (just guessing in the year we stop), I'm pretty sure the 80's would have the overall worst top 20. Yeah. Yeah. I said it.
