Yeah, when i was testing a few out a couple of moths ago, 3 things stood out: even with the assist i cant get to my release point I need a bow with a 32' draw, feels to damn unnatural to sight with my right eye and I love the Thwhhp sound of the bow.

I'm not an archery expert by any means, but I went and shot quite a few and ended up buying a PSE Brute for $500 (close to $800 after arrows, broadheads, field points, release, target, case, etc) and I can't imagine a bow being a whole lot better.

Go to Bowie or Cabela's/Bass Pro and shoot a few and find one you like in your price range. I had originally planned on spending a little more on one, but couldn't see enough difference in the more expensive ones to justify dropping more cash on them.

Great Advice. I did this as well. I liked the "Package" Bows they offered. I think BowTech makes the RedHead Brand.

Go to any archery shop and shoot every one that's in your price range and buy the one that feels the best to you.

This.

I was sold on Matthews cause of all the hype until I pulled back a Bowtech! Pretty much any class of bow across brands is going to be about the same, a $500 bow is a $500 bow, a $900 bow is a $900 bow, etc. etc. Alot of what your paying for in the high end bows is the name, especitally on Matthews IMO. Found the bow I wanted at a bowshop (Bowtech Invasion ) then picked one up fully rigged out on eBay for less than just the bow cost at the archery shop.

I would check out a used bow for your first one as can pick one up fully rigged out for about half the cost to get in the game, as once your hooked your hooked!

Then buy a Bowtech!

If feels good to get out from drinking the Matthews coolade doesnt it!

Also may want to check out the Bowtech assassin, comes as a complete package, rest, sight, etc. for around $500 I think. only need arrows and a release and your ready to shoot! was actually going to get one before I found my invasion.

That's a sweet looking bow.

To the OP, look on craigs list. A lot of times people are selling bows after bow season. You can usually get a good package deal for a good price. That's where I got my Truth 2 a few years back (I got it for sale if you want it )
