from Liverpool: Gerrard, Xabi Alonso, God, KK, Djbril Cisse
others: Zizzou, Eto'o, Dinho, real Ronaldo, Henry
would've been my second favorite: Torres

Steven Gerrard.
Others from Liverpool: Michael Owen, Nando, Cisse
Others in general: Fat Ronaldo, Zidane, David Villa (when he was at Valencia), Roberto Carlos, Pavel Nedved. And there are others of course.

Even though I played soccer all the way through high school, I didn't watch it very often, so I don't really have a favorite that I've followed throughout their career. Torres was at Liverpool for his first season when I was a senior in high school and he was getting tons of coverage on ESPN for a soccer player. He was one of the reasons that I chose to follow Chelsea, poor form and all.
I've also always really liked David Villa. I watched both him and Torres in the 2006 world cup. When he's on, Villa's easily my favorite player to watch. His highlights are incredible. Unfortunately, when I started watching soccer regularly this past summer, I realized that Villa is an incredible pussy. He's still my favorite player to watch when he's on, but because of his antics (that are probably amplified now that he's at Barca), he's not my favorite overall.
Juan Mata is my favorite player all around though. I think that if Chelsea succeeds in the next few years, he will largely be the reason for it. His skill is great and he's a great leader too.
So these are my favorite 3:
1. Mata His Chelsea highlights
2. Torres
3. Villa At Barca. Older
ETA: I just realized that my 3 favorite players are Spanish, but my least favorite part of soccer is the diving. At least 2 of the 3 are known for being pretty physical, especially since they came from La Liga.

I'm probably a little older than a lot of you, but one of the most lethal strikers in the world for several years. Before his career was stained with being fat and lazy.
