Is your Jeep your primary vehicle or a secondary play toy? Just curious.

It never fails this time of year I always get the itch to get one. Currenlty own a F150 and all I do is drive around town and drop my son off to school in the mornings. If we travel we take my wife's vehicle.

ETA - always puss out because I'm not sure I'll like it for everyday driving.

Pros?

Cons?

Depends on what you are going to buy. I would never recommend an older Jeep as a DD, but if you are going for an Unlimited they are more plush than my DD truck.

My truck is in the shop so I'm in my dad's '12 4 door Sport with a (shitty)2.5" lift and 35's. It's fun as hell to drive but rides like arse. My F350 rides smoother than this thing. I think the only way I'd have one for a DD would be with a better lift/shocks. They're fun as hell though.

too many pro's and con's to list but I have a '97 TJ I bought for a second driver and to and from camp. I drive it just about as much as I drive my primary driver (1500 HD truck), especially when weather is nice. Major con is no room in jeep though. If you have young ones and will be transporting all their stuff and buds around, get a newer bigger jeep or just egt an old one as a second driver and have fun with it.

Primary advantage is - you will be driving a JEEP!

Good luck and let us know what you decide.

pros = you get wave at other jeeps

cons = you are probably waving so they'll take you to the parts store so you can fix your ride

In all seriousness, I only use mine as a secondary vehicle, but its 30 years old. Keep up with the maintanence on a strict schedule and you'll be fine.

That itch will be cured quick as shite if it's your DD. Get one as a secondary, especially of its a CJ or a YJ.

Folks have a 97' TJ, Def. wouldn't wanna drive it more than around town, I drove it to Florida once, in high school. Thought it would be awesome to have it around the beach, and it was, but it was a very long 7 hr drive. I've heard the new Wranglers are a lot better.

I still love that thing though They are a lot of fun.

My '06 is my DD. Probably won't be my last Jeep.

I haven't driven many jeeps (2) and I wouldn't mind the stock one for a DD. It is AWESOME in parking lots.

The other one I drove was a full blown rock crawling rig and I do not want to drive that damn thing on the highway even if it is street legal.

secondary

You probably get better milage in the F150 than you will in a Wrangler and you'll be surprised how much you'll miss the truck if you get rid of it. That being said, the Wrangler is fun to motor around in.
