Matt Flynn is all class. He is an great example for other young men that hard work and keeping you goals in sight will pay off .

It almost always means that someone with way too much time on their hands and a sense of entitlement has failed to come up with something clever to say about a topic that has already been posted.

"It was tough to wait so long to start at LSU, but that experience of going from a backup to the spotlight for one year definitely will help me as I hopefully move forward as an NFL starter," Flynn said. "Just playing in the SEC was great with all the big games -- it's as close as you can get to the NFL. When we beat Alabama with two TDs in the last five minutes, that was Nick Saban's first game against LSU where he'd coached, so that was huge. I've been in those pressure cooker situations -- the big college games and the national championship -- so I know I can handle it. I'm a laid back person so it doesn't affect me too much. I was confident then and I'm confident now."

This must be a new thing you kids are doing. In my day, it only meant the former.

He's about to be in like himself. Great news, he deserves it.

But hardly surprising. Compare the two on the basis of the qualities that NFL GMs consider important. After the first one, it's all Flynn and not even close on any of them.

quote:

GMs and coaches can't speak publicly about impending free agents, but several have told me their scouting reports on Flynn state: good to very good in the following categories -- arm strength, quick release, accuracy, athleticism and mobility (especially moving in the pocket); hard worker, smart, tough, composed, great competitor, an excellent teammate and leader; good character.

Used to be when someone told a story that was old news, the smartass response was "Yeah. Flash! Japanese bomb Pearl Harbor!" Then John Belushi turned it into "Germans bomb[ed] Pearl Harbor" in his famous rant from Animal House. Got picked up here and shortened to just "Germans."

He'd be a good fit in Washington too, and let's face it he'd get paid.

Shanahan has been cleaning house and getting a ton of young guys in there. Plus Flynn is extremely coach able which would work with Shanahans super controlling personality.

Use the #6 pick on Mo Claiborne and go sign a big target WR (dwayne bowe would be ideal but he's getting franchised for sure).

LSU takes over the Redskins!!!

I had always said that Matt would probably have a better career in the long run than JR. Especially due to his vastly superior work ethic and intelligence. Congrats to Matt Flynn and good luck!

He probably already is. I am pretty sure that JR is just about broke by now.

Thanks.....glad it was new. I liked the view point of a GM in the article. That's also the first I had heard about him possibly getting in the neighborhood of $10 mil per.

That's a good LSU story.

When will you people realize that Flynn was an avg qb AT LSU? He had some very bad games in 07. 4 int vs Bama. Hell JJ in 09 had a higher qb rating than Flynn in 07. Flynn was not a better COLLEGE QB THAN JR. hence the number one overall pick and a 7th rounder.

Sorry, I laughed at that statement. Only 4-5 million.

It is good to see Flynn get a contract. I am always happy to see a former Tiger doing well. It is crazy to think that Russell had all the accolades and squandered them. Flynn paid his dues and worked his way into a huge payday.
