Final Ranking: 2
Sep. 26 Rice W 20-7 Baton Rouge

Nov. 21 Louisiana-Lafayette W 93-0 Baton Rouge
Nov. 28 Tulane W 33-0 Baton Rouge
Sugar Bowl
Jan. 1 Santa Clara L 14-21 New Orleans
And to this i ask why do we not claim this when even though we lost the last game of the season? Gumps did. in 1964 bama claimed themselves national champions even after having lost to texas in the orange bowl 21-17. And again in 1973 even after losing to Notre Dame in the sugar bowl 24-23. but then again they only lost by 1 so its not actually a loss.
1961 Season
Head Coach: Paul Dietzel
Overall Record: 10-1 Conference Record: 6-0
Final Ranking: 4
Sep. 23 Rice L 3-16 Houston
Sep. 30 Texas A&M W 16-7 Baton Rouge

Oct. 14 South Carolina W 42-0 Columbia
Oct. 21 Kentucky W 24-14 Baton Rouge

Nov. 4 Ole Miss W 10-7 Baton Rouge
Nov. 11 North Carolina W 30-0 Chapel Hill
Nov. 18 Miss. State W 14-6 Baton Rouge
Nov. 25 Tulane W 62-0 Baton Rouge
Orange Bowl
Jan. 1 Colorado W 25-7 Miami
Gump logic again! In 1965 Bama lost to Georgia to open up the season and won out to go 9-1-1 .
Lets just claim them. whatcha' say?

We have like 7 using Alabama logic. Maybe 8 if some computers gave us the title this season.
Posted on 2/3/12 at 10:27 pm to Ac16
Because bama logic is retard logic and we're not retards, so therefore we don't use it.
Posted on 2/3/12 at 10:33 pm to Ac16
1908 would not be using Bama logic. We could legitimately claim that one without any controversy or snickering.
36 and 61 would be Bama-esque.
Oh and quit hatin'.

I would so much rather claim the 1908 tile over that dumb 1935 pre-tournament basketball title we try to pass off.

I didn't know lsu was undefeated rosebowl champions, ap,or coaches poll champion in any of those yrs. I've learned something new. Lol

By Bama standards, we have 8 Natty's. By the standards that the rest of the college football world acknowledges, we have 3. I'm good with 3, but I wouldn't balk at 4(including 1908). The 1908 title is far more legit than at least 5 of Bama's "titles".
Posted on 2/3/12 at 11:15 pm to jeepfreak
Well, they have two in the last three years and their football coach has only been there five years.

AP, UPI, Coaches (BCS) titles....3
Undefeated Rose Bowl teams from the pre-poll era.....0
1941 (feel free to choose any year to make up for that).....1
Using our standard I'd say you have 4, which is probably what you should claim anyhow. 1908 is pretty legit. The NCAA lists it on their FBS history page.

Bama logic? Some of you are under the impression that Alabama claims a title every year someone named us National champs and that is simply NOT true. LSU has a major claim to 1908 if they want. I would not have any complaints about it. All of our titles from 1961-2011 are all poll titles. The only one that anybody has a right to bitch at us about is 1941. And most of us hate that bullshite claim

Yet, you list it in your sig quote. Hmmmmmm

If only that was how "Bama Logic" worked...
Poor little Tigahs.

And yet, even though you say that you hate that 1941 claim, you and the rest of your fellow updyke retards run all around the world with 14... 14... 14... printed on everything you own.
You guys don't look very deeply at anything, do you?
If you want to look at firm, no-doubt-about-it NC's, bama has 6 (I think, maybe 5). If you use bama math and count polls published by their student newspaper and strange guys who live in their basement, bama has 14.

Absolutely retarded statement. Just because you don't like the AP/UPI methodology, the titles awarded under it are not less valid.

My sig is a joke. It is in regards to the people that think we claim every one. It is not serious in any way.
As for the #14, I don't own a single piece of Alabama gear that has the #14 on it. We don't control the shite that the University or other companies produce. We are just the fans. We do not make those decisions. Whether you want to believe it or not, most of us really wish the university would drop 1941 from the list

Soooo... if bama ended the season #1 with split polls, then played the other poll's #1 in a bowl game... and LOST to that other #1 in the bowl game... you still feel comfortable flailing your arms around and screaming that bama was national champion for that year?
Seriously?
Let me ask you... what the fuk does "national champion" mean to you?
Obviously, to an updyke retard, "national champion" is a meaningless stat, a numeral for you treasure chest... rather than a proud and reasonable claim of "best team" or "best season".
You see, that's why everyone outside of Gump Realm thinks you guys are delusional. You're desperately inflating your numbers. Why do that? Bama has a great history without resorting to this desperate, delusional insanity.
I can understand why Ole Miss uses gump math... without it, they have nothing. Bama isn't Ole Miss. Why act like them?

quote:Yes, because those were the rules in place at the time. If LSU loses to Clemson in the Sugar Bowl, would we not be claiming 1958? And Bama does claim some retarded ones, but they have about 8 or 9 legit ones. Which is still impressive.

God the Bama envy on this board is getting embarrassing.

They didn't claim anything, they were named National Champs by the AP in 64 and the UPI (coaches poll) in 73. No poll was taken after the bowls in those cases.
Like it our not, those are legit. 1941 is the only really bogus one they claim and ones before 1936 and the first AP poll are suspect. They have 9 legit, post AP titles, that includes 64 and 73. Now if you want to point out they have been very lucky in some cases, ok. 64 as you noted they lost the bowl, but no poll was take after the bowls. In 65 the AP decided to do their final poll after the bowls and they were #4 going into the bowls, but #1 and #2 lost and they beat #3 NU, so they win 65 because others lost in bowls, despite winning a couple after they lost in bowls

I don't think anybody in the country would have a problem with LSU claiming the 1908 title.
Posted on 2/5/12 at 10:16 am to bamaboy87
bama fans are crazy about all their NC. in 1930 notre dame was #1 in six polls. in 1941 bama was ranked 20th in the AP poll. 1973 they were 4th in the polls before they lost to notre dame in their bowl and they try to claim this one. 1978 USC was the champs but bama trys to claim it and their only loss that year you guessedit USC.
