Ok, I say "credit card" because I don't carry a balance. I just want something to use every day for my purchases and and pay it off at the end of the month like I always have. I currently have some Cap One beginners credit card that has a $750 limit but it earns me nothing as miles or points or cash back...

"best" is relative and based off of what you want out of it. Do you want travel miles? Do you want cash back?

Is there a store you use ALL the time? If so, check out their cc. I have a Sheels card that pays 1% on all purchases and 2f% or something on Sheels purchases.

I'd assume Cash back.

Possibly Amazon?

What benefits are there to AMEX? Discover?

I have an amazon card. I've enjoyed it thus far. Get 3points on amazon purchases which is a lot for me, 2 at gas stations, restaurants, 1 everywhere else. I have about 15,000 points but I put everything on it.

Get one that will benefit YOU the most. If you're planning a big trip, consider a card that will reward you with miles to use toward your trip.

As far as benefits and differences, I really don't know. I know websites exist that compare and contrast different cards.

Amex swings a VERY big stick if you ever have an issue with a merchant.

Amex, generally gives the best business specific rewards.

Capitalone venture is a solid general rewards card. BOA also offers a 3-2-1 card that is pretty solid.

It won't be mistaken for an EBT card.

I have been very happy with Discover as a Cash Back rewards card.

5% back on certain catogories (changes each quarter) and 1% on everything else.

What different categories do they use? Do they cycle categories?

How often does the interest rate compound?

Can have a pushpin for this question, as it gets asked once a week at least.

Discover cycles catagories, usually gas/travel in summer. Home improvement, restraunts, hotels, etc at different times of the year. dept stores around christmas. They had a bonus day with 10% the friday before christmas this year.

Look into chase freedom. Like the discover it has rotating 5% categories and 1% on all others. Plus you can get $250/2500 pts when you spend $500 in the first three months. Unless you have a lot of monthly expenses no other entry card will get you that many points regardless of rewards rates
