Health Insurance Question

Okay here is a timeline of the events-
Dec 2010-Went to the ER, had CAT Scan, discharged
Dec 2010-Later that evening I was admitted to the hospital.
Wife gave her insurance card instead of mine(mine was primary/hers was secondary.)
Every time I received a bill I called each place to switch the information.
2 months ago I received a bill from the CAT scan. I have been going back and forth with the insurance company and the hospital about this bill. For some reason my primary paid nothing on the CAT scan.
Well once everything has been figured out, they are now telling me that I have to contact my HR because there is no more money in the account(my job switched insurance companies.) They are telling me unless my HR dept puts money in the account that I will be responsible for all of the bill.
Can they really make me pay this since it was their damn fault?

I don't know anything about this but if it comes down to the company not ponying up money they owe you then I'd find a new company to work for ASAP.
Oh and a friendly bump.

Sounds like you should pay the bill and then work it out with your insurance co. Why should the hospital not get paid? They did their service. It's not their fault your ins. Has refused to pay.

Public option would stop a lot of the poor service of the for profit companies.
