I have never been a big tv/movie watcher but I over the Christmas holidays I decided to subscribe to this new thing I discovered called Netflix and check some things out.

Breaking Bad was great and I'm trying to find something else to watch until Season 4 comes out on Netflix.

Any opinions on Lost before I delve into its 100+ episodes??

Btw, LOVE the Saved by the Bell and Karate Kid threads. LOVE THEM!!

Without a shadow of a doubt. Any minute now, people will come on here and tell you it sucked and the ending makes the whole series unwatchable. The board is pretty split 50/50 on if they either loved the ending or despise it.

With that said, since you won't have to wait a week between episodes and can knock out the whole series in a few weeks (depending on how much free time you have) it is absolutely worth the ride. The first 2 seasons will have you watching episode after episode and not wanting to even go to bed. Season 3 is the worst, and drags at times, but has a hell of an ending. 4 and 5 are good and the 6th ties it all together. It is one of my top 3 favorite shows ever and despite its flaws I would recommend it 100% to anybody.

None are available on Netflix to my knowledge. I'm in the same boat as the OP - just finished season 3 of Breaking Bad, but I don't think I want to devote the time to Lost. Seems like a burden.

Weeds and Friday Night Lights are on Netflix, if you haven't seen those.

I feel it ended the way it had to. I didn't hate it and I didn't love it. It was the ending that had to be.
I feel people that hated it may not have understood the philosophical overtones and commentary.

ETA: The show can be a commentary on life, inter-personal relationships, and classical philosophical topics such as morality and purpose... or it can simply be network sci-fi/suspense show.
Either way it was a network TV phenomenon though.

24 is great but I never made it past a few seasons. It certainly didn't suck me in the way LOST did.
I re-watched LOST recently when I was sick and I was watching episode after episode like I had never seen it.

LOST is worth it.

Sons of Anarchy is available on Netflix thru season 3 now, also.

Lost is awesome, even its faults were original.
And there really isn't a way to please everyone when you end a show with that many avid viewers.
It gave you an answer. I liked that. I would have hated it just leaving shite up in the air.

24 is great. Its repetitive, but its still entertaining. Even the maddening parts, like Kim's incessant need to be kidnapped, were sufferable. This show is awesome, because Jack Bauer is fricking awesome. Period.

Kim

One of the reasons I started the show and one of the reasons I never finished. Cuthbert is Hot but Kim made some mind-boggling decisions. Her stupidity became too frustrating.

Another selling point for LOST is how into the characters you get. Each episode gives you a backstory on someone's life, so you really begin to connect and associate with them. I don't think I've ever been more attached to characters in a show than I was with LOST.

And those people don't understand the complexity the ending actually had. It really disappoints me sometimes because the ending episodes were absolutely phenominal when you really dive deep into them.

First three seasons were amazing, but the major letdown (based on the ending) part of me wants the hours back I wasted but them I wouldn't have experienced the first three seasons.

But there are other tv shows I would watch instead if you haven't seem them: the wire, battlestar galactica, dexter
