How do they compare to Brockers and Montgomery? With the talk of them leaving early, could these guys step in and fill their shoes?
Throw in Mickey Johnson, Quentin Thomas, Marlin, Ferguson and Downs. I am pulling for Downs but its not looking like he will ever be elite. Hopefully Ferguson will turn the corner. I think Mickey Johnson build and strength will make him a solid anchor for the Freak to do his thing.
What are yalls opinion?

Any one of them could do it if they work hard enough for it.

I think they can be just as good, if not better. They would fill in nicely.

I think SM can be replaced seamlessly with Rasco. Nobody on the roster as of now can replace Brockers. With all do respect to SM, MoC and TM7, Brockers is LSU's best defensive player. Im still amazed he hasnt gotten a sniff by the mass media's AA lists. Evidently, they are too busy watching the HBadger and not seeing Brockers eating Olineman and RB for lunch. Athony johnson will be great but I think he is a penetrator rather than a immovable rock like brock

They would, but what makes this DL so special is we have so much depth to give us fresh legs in the 4th quarter. They would be great as starters, but who comes in for them without missing a beat?

I'm pretty confident everybody on defense who isn't graduating will come back except for Mo.

We'll have another year of all those guys.

Our Defensive Tackle's play has been the key to the season. Their emergence from relative obscurity has been a real catalyst to our overall defensive success.

Chavis saying he wouldn't trade Big John Henderson or Albert Haynesworth for Bennie Logan & Michael Brockers is heady praise.

Next year, we're going to rotate Freak in with Downs, & Mickey Johnson will have had an entire year to Moffetize & learn from Brick & the rest. This kid is easily probably our strongest player on our team right now. He will form a very potent rotation where we'll literally go 5-6 men deep on the Defensive Line.

We're at a point where in the Spring before this year, we moved a former 5-star Defensive Tackle to Offensive Line, & we STILL don't have the snaps to give all of our talent on the interior Defensive Line enough reps.

Rasco played a ton on the back-end of the schedule. Justin Maclin also redshirted this year. He will come back as a 20 year old 3rd year Sophomore next year. Look out for him.

Depends on your definition of afford. If we lose Brockers,Montgomery, and Randle, we don't win an SEC Championship next year. Book it and flame on.

it will hurt, but I think we could swing it. Mett is really gonna help out our WRs, we got ODB, Landry, Clement, Boone, Wright coming back to catch passes. None of them are RR, but Bama aint got no RR this year and they are pretty competitive. Losing Brockers and Sam will hurt, but if Rasco develops more and Freak develops, you are still talking about one of the deepest DL in the nation, plus our LB play will be improved.

You're retarded if you think Freak is equal to Brockers. Or will be next year. That would be a HUGE downgrade to the middle of our line. I guess LSU fans don't realize how truly special Brockers is. Freak just doesnt have the stature to be that kind of force inside. His game will be quickness and making plays behind the line, but he'll never be able to take on blockers and open up things for the rest of the front 7 like Brockers does. Dude is truly special.

Even if we lose both of them, we gain Maclin off the redshirt, as well as Rasco as an every-down contributor. We're also going to return Freak, Downs, Logan, & also Mickey Johnson. That's 3 kids with starting experience & one redshirt whose perhaps the biggest sleeper in his recruiting class.

Montgomery is a great player, but stop and think about this, guys: We moved a 5-Star Defensive Tackle to the Offensive Line this past Spring in Chris Davenport, and we still didn't have enough reps to go around on the interior of our Defensive Line.

At the Defensive End spot, Mingo led us in sacks most of the year as a non-starter.

We will be very, very okay on the DL. We may not be as talented, but we may be deeper. People just don't realize it.

I heard an assistant strength coach in a pre-game radio interview say that redshirt defensive tackle Quentin Thomas from Breaux Bridge has been the single most impressive non-playing workout warrior in their strength and conditioning program.
