Well, you have to give Maryland a lot of credit, unlike LSU and Oregon, we both kept Crowton around way too long......... I just wish you guys would have kept him ONE more year.......

We won a NC and set the LSU record for points scored in a season with him as OC his 1st year here so it's hard to say that we should have gotten rid of him. Hindsight always has perfect vision

We ran the same offense we run now except for a few plays and for some tweaks that Crowton would put in week to week.Second year he puts in more of his stuff and the fall off begins. That was his history everywhere he went because he was added to a staff. This time he is there with a new staff and put in his offense on day 1.

I think it has more to do with not being a very good offensive coordinator, being a nonexistent recruiter and having the opportunity to hire Mike Locksley

at least he called a pretty good 2008 BCS NC game.

understatement: give credit where it's due, he called a great game. OSU had no clue. i feel sorry for him. When he was hired I thought that it was one of the most significant asst coach hires ever at LSU.

He's done that twice, both with smart, NFL QBs. Tim Rattay and Matt Flynn.

Other than that, he's pretty much blown.

I'm glad to see at least someone isn't dumb enough to keep him around.

So, he gets $1 million over the next 2 years to do absolutely nothing as a reward for sucking so bad at his job? And some people are feeling sorry for him?

Idiots...

technically, he did well two more times in 2001 with BYU and 2005 with Oregon.

Both with 5th year senior QBs and the old OC's playbook.

I understand all that. Like I said, hindsight is 20/20. All I'm saying is that its hard to justify firing a guy that ran the most potent offense in LSU history and won a NC as the OC. Regardless of how much he tweaked/modified Jimbo's offense in '07 he still called the plays and did a great job that year. Plus I think he was given more time to get it together after RP was kicked off the team because Les and Alleva knew that our QB situation was a setback that would have hindered any OC. I still would have let him go after '09 but to fire him before that would have been retarded at the time.

Unbelievable. The fact we won 8, 9, and 11 games with him at OC is incredible and speaks volumes for Miles' coaching imo. Bad offensive coordinators can ruin careers of good head coaches.

It also shows the talent we had in our players. Even with poor coaching on offense, the players still won many games. Or probably the other coaches just took over Crowton's responsibilities.

I don't think it's funny when anyone gets fired

Gary is a good guy...and tries his best.

I think he makes his QB think too much and thus become ineffective
