A Keurig/Community coffee question
Posted on 11/30/11 at 1:53 pm

I drink Community Coffee New Orleans blend, and my wife wants a Keurig. Obviously Community does not make the individual pods for the Keurig, but I know they make the insert where you can brew your own coffee.
My question is, since Community is a more coarse blend of coffee, has anyone had success brewing Community coffee from a Keurig? Or am I going to be stuck drinking Green Mountain? Please advise.

don't have the answer to your primary question, but can offer some advice in regards to this:
have two coffee makers in your house. one for you, and one for the "woman coffee."

In a previous post someone said the Community did not work well in the self-fill cups...not to mention it defeats the convenience factor.
The best I've found so far is Tulley's French Roast...but I miss Community. Might be returning mine and getting another cheap drip pot.
It is nice having a cup of coffee in 17 seconds, but I don't really NEED it.

if you want to spend a little extra dough get a programmable one. when I wake up my coffee is sitting there waiting for me. not to mention I have one that grinds the beans right before it brews a pot.

Best Ive had k-kup wise in dark was Paul Newman's Dark and Emiril Lagasse's New Orleans dark.

I'll try those. I made my Community very strong. The best I've found so far is Tulley's French Roast. Anything that isn't "Extra Dark" and "Extra Bold" is pretty weak. I don't want to be able to see the side of the cup.

I just got a free bag of CC coffee because it did not work in friends keurig

I'm sure you could grind community coffee extra fine. Some supermarkets even have the grinder on the coffee isle so u wouldn't have to buy a grinder.

You could. But again, filing your own cup and cleaning it out seems like a bigger pain in the arse than just using a drip pot.

doesn't matter. trendy > traditional
people will ignore the facts just so they're not proven to be sheep.

the Dietrich French Roast is the closest Keurig K-cup to Community dark roast, IMO.

I'm sure this has been addressed, but the search function...blah blah blah.
Who in Baton Rouge has a good selection of K-cups? Wal-Mart? Target? Any smaller places? And then the logical follow up is where online to get them after I find a couple that I like?
Again, while I'm on the fence about whether to even keep mine...I'm leaning towards keeping it for company and convenience.

I got a Bed Bath & Beyond flyer in the mail. It claimed to be the K-Cup headquarters. There was also a 20% off coupon. You may want to sign up on their website???
I mentioned in another thread the other day that the K-Cup patent expires in Septemember 2012. You should expect to see nearly every brand of coffee in the K-cup format shortly after that I would think.

Average 2 a day and you'll need OT baller money...

My go-to Community blend is the Chicory one. But I find it's not as good in the Keurig 1 cup thing. Instead I put in CDM and it's fabulous.

I saw an ad for this coffee maker not too long ago, and while it won't solve your problem (that your wife wants a Keurig) it may solve other people that drink community but only want 1-2 cups in the morning.
I have a Keurig that I like, but if I had seen this one, I might have gotten it instead.

Timothy's Donut Shop Coffee is a solid choice. I really enjoy drinking it.

We got the Bunn pod single serve maker for this reason. Community does make the pods, just not the Keurig cups.
I don't like the idea of creating so much waste with the Keurig cups. Once they are biodegradable or even recyclable I may venture that way, but the selection in the pods is just as vast as Keurig and equally convenient.

I tried a Keurig cup once and it was just too weak for me. Give me my traditional 12 cupper with timer any day.
