Wow. I'm still shocked that LSU actually has a shot at this guy! CJJ must be working hard on him!

probably a combo of working on grades/being advised to wait till spring by the staff just in case they have to make numbers work out

Quartermann? Well, he would be the only SG we're recruiting.

Watched Jarell Martin and Madison Prep last night, as my buddy refereed. Extremely impressed with this kid. If you have the time, go check out one of their games. Madison Prep is minutes away from downtown off of Scenic Hwy. The entire Madison Prep team should be poised to win state in class B this year. Two kids (One freshman) that are 6'7" and Jarell Martin make for a very talented group.
The stats that I kept up with from Martin last night were 30 pts and 12 boards. 6 slams with 2 "alley oops." Also noticed a hand full of steals and assists. All of this after he didn't play the entirety of the 3rd quarter.
I know it's known on here, but this kid is a huge talent and if you get the opportunity to check him out in person, you're in for a big treat. Can't wait to see him in purple and gold and rectify this team along with the rest of the talented incoming class and current players.
The future is bright!

at least it won't just be 3 or 4 guys winning state

Where are we with the class next year on them getting qualified? I have heard we may have some issues with a couple of these guys.
Posted on 11/25/12 at 11:50 am to jr33
Who have you heard there is an issue with?
Posted on 11/26/12 at 2:10 pm to PortCityMadMan
Only one I've heard of is Deng, and that is more of what's remaining on his clock rather than getting in.
Martin is good to go, Mickey is also. Odo will be here in January. Not sure about Quarterman?

Jr hasn't heard anything. He enjoys being negative about LSU basketball.

Jr knows more than you wish you knew. He been right on numerous things long ago that he was blasted for. He got the last laugh. Good try though.

there were some whispers about martin and mickey (not related to his hs eligibility fiasco). as far as i know everything is good to go as of now.

Any news on the recruiting trail? Still expecting to land one more?

JJ said he expects to have 'definitely two' more scholarships available to offer, possibly three. I think the possible third he was talking about is the one held by Andrew Del Piero, who Jones said they are looking into trying to get another year of eligibility out of. He said he's not optimistic about that, though.
ETA: this is from his Tip Off Luncheon from today.

I was very surprised to read that, but I can dig it.

Doesn't that definitely mean some sort of attrition?

I would think it has to because he is as of now adding Odo next month bringing LSU to 12 scholarship players. The you lose Carmouche and Ludwig bringing you to 10. Possibly losing ADP so 9. Adding Quarterman, Martin, and Mickey back up to 12. So there is 1 spot for sure. So if he thinks there are two spots before ADP leaves counting the 4 he is adding he is fully expecting someone to leave.
I have nothing but pure speculation behind this but I sort of think Courtney is the guy he think may leave. Not sure he will actually transfer but he seems to have injury issues and the guy hasn't been able to play much. Is there a chance he gets a medical his last year? Or the more obvious answer JOB3 leaves for NBA.

nah. I think he needs one more year. hope he doesn't get bad advice though.

Am with you on thinking he needs another year to develop. The issue is always who is giving them advice. There are always guys in the NFL and NBA draft who have no business leaving early but someone got in their ear and got them to jump in the hopes it would put money in that person's pocket.
