if, and again if, Arky wins. It's pretty scary to think where the BCS would place us with a loss before the SEC championship game if Arky & Bama win out the next two games. I don't see how we could be rated above either team despite schedule strength and beating Bama by 3, but hope I'm wrong!

Your thoughts?

All I know is that this place would be a mad house. Baton Rouge might blow up.

Why can't you see?

We'd have beaten the future Pac-12 champ at a somewhat neutral site. #4 team.
The possible Big East Champ on the road.
Alabama on the road #3 team.

We still have the most impressive OOC schedule probably in the country. Not saying we're definitely in, but it's definitely possible, if not even more likely than not.

Our wins would most likely keep us above Arkansas, but behind Alabama (we would still go the SECCG, and then jump Alabama again). Neither team has any quality wins at this point in the season -- LSU has multiple quality wins. That's the difference.

Bama to SECCG. I really can't see arkansas jumping them.

If they beat UGA, they're in the BCS Championship to face Okie state. Sugar Bowl either picks us or arkansas again

It would really depend on how bad of a loss it was. If it was a really tight game, I think that we still go to the SECCG. Voters wouldn't move Arkansas above a team that beat them by 24 and it would still come out to the head to head with Bama. In addition, we're really strong in the computers and would still have wins over 2 top 5 teams to go along with the rest of our body of work.

None of this really matters anyway. Barring LSU playing their absolute worst and Arkansas playing flawlessly, there is no way that LSU drops that game. I know that the games have been pretty close between the schools over the past decade, but none of those games featured a team of the caliber of this season's LSU. Arkansas may be a good team this season, but they are not on the level of LSU and Bama. I think we win by 17+ and wouldn't be surprised if the game really got out of hand.

All we'd have to hope for is that Arkansas doesn't jump us. If they don't we go to the SECCG.

If we somehow lose I'd see it being

2 Alabama
3 LSU
4/5 Arkansas

But we're not going to lose to Arkansas.

Rank the following 11-1 teams 1-2-3 based on the following resumes:

Alabama 11-1 (7-1)
vs Kent State W 48-7
@ #23 Penn State W 27-11
vs North Texas W 41-0
vs #14 Arkansas W 38-14
@ #12 Florida W 38-10
vs Vanderbilt W 34-0
@ Ole Miss W 52-7
vs Tennessee W 37-6
vs #1 LSU L 9-6 OT
@ Mississippi State W 24-7

quote:

The combined records of the FBS opponents for all 12 SEC schools: (as of 11-6-11)
Tennessee: 47-23 (.671)
LSU: 46-26 (.639)
Ole Miss: 46-26 (.639)
Vanderbilt: 44-28 (.611)
Alabama: 43-29 (.597)
Auburn: 47-32 (.595)
Mississippi State: 41-31 (.569)
Kentucky: 41-32 (.562)
South Carolina: 45-36 (.555)
Florida: 43-37 (.538)
Georgia: 38-33 (.535)
Arkansas: 34-37 (.479)

Speaking of Arkansas, the Hogs have faced the easiest schedule in the SEC, according to the combined records of their opponents. The Hogs’ FBS foes are a combined 34-37 (.479).

Of Arkansas’ eight FBS opponents to this point, four currently have losing records.

Nonetheless, Arkansas is one of only three SEC teams (along with Alabama and LSU) that has beaten three or more nationally-ranked opponents this season. The Hogs own wins over Texas A&M, Auburn and South Carolina. All three teams were ranked in the AP poll at the time of the game.

No. 1 LSU, coming off its 9-6 overtime win at Alabama, owns six victories over nationally-ranked foes, including two over top 5 teams.

Based on these resumes, a reasonable person should come to the following conclusions:

1. LSU easily has the best overall resume, winning vs Oregon, @ West Virginia, and @ Alabama. LSU dominated 10 of the 12 teams it faced. LSU should be ranked the highest of the three teams

2. Alabama throttled Arkansas, and played a tougher schedule than the Hogs, winning @ Penn State. Alabama dominated 11 of the 12 teams it faced. Alabama should be ranked 2nd highest of the three teams

3. Arkansas, by default, should be ranked 3rd highest of the three teams. Arkanasas dominated 5 of the 12 teams it faced and is the only team of the 3 that struggled to win a few games.

I guess all the talking heads have to fill time and talk about 3 way ties, etc.

At the end of the regular season, the top of the polls won't be changing.
