Nov 1st & 2nd Random Beer Thread

For the random beer comments of the day. Good, Bad, & just meh experiences you've had with beer, bars, stores, etc.
Had my first taste of Pumpkinator last night. I give it a A-. I didn't realize it was an imperial stout so I opened it thinking I was going to share with my sister. She couldn't handle it. Had to apologize and drank the bottle alone

Anyone know where to find NOLA cans in BR and which brews are available. Also a schedule of future releases by them would be awesome but i think I'm reaching.

havent seen any here yet.
talked to someone who works there at the auburn game, itll most likely be the new year before any other beers are canned.
got to try estate ale this weekend, loved it.

I can say that Bozeman, MT (metro population around 90K) has both a better brewery and better beer bar than anything Baton Rouge has to offer.

I'm glad you started this.
I hadn't been beer shopping in a while so I went last Thursday night. I was impressed with the selection of new beers. I found some Estate ale 2011 that I thought was very very good. A lot like licking a bag of hops lol I liked it. Plus I found the Northern Hemisphere harvest ale that was delicious too. Found some John John Hazelnut Brown Nectar that I was excited to see. I think I remember it being better at the avenue pub but no big deal I'll still probably pick up another bottle if I can find it.

i grabbed one of those this weekend too. i havent had a chance to try it yet though.
we're lucky we have ANY brewery here in baton rouge. the south and breweries are light years behind other regions.
im thinking about heading to ave pub friday for the 12% rollout. my friend bailed on me, anybody wanna go?

Can't help w/ the NOLA.
Tried SN N.Hemisphere and SN Estate Ale. I liked both very much.
The N. Hemisphere had hops crawling out of the bottle when the cap is popped off and out of the glass with every sip.
The Estate Ale is another wet hop beer, but it is more in-balance (for me). There is plenty of hop flavor, aroma, and bitterness, but when you drink it the malt and caramel are right there too. This is one I would like to drink year-round.
As for stores I saw something about Storeon BA, so I made a rip out there. Beer selection is great. Large Wine and Liquor selection as well. Picked up the above beers and some Pannepot2010.

im good on the estate, but i know you really want to try the pumpking (me too). so we need to get together soon, before its gone. it calls me name everytime i open the fridge, but i keep telling myself i have to hold out for tetu. you're the reason i picked up the beer in the 1st place.

Thanks to some good friends of mine I got to try these this past weekend. Apparently the De Garre is from some place in Belgium that you have to get them to fill up the bottle out of the tap right there to take any home. The Gueuze was good. I think that was the first Gueuze I've ever had. The one from Minnesota was old I think. Not very hoppy at all.

Man i really don't care for the pumpkin beer stuff, nor do i really the spiced holiday brews either. I like Anchor Xmas but not really any others.
I had one of these last night and it was outstanding.

Anyone ever brewed a strong cider that they were pleased with?
I thought I saw something about just buying 5 gallons of WholeFoods type cider and adding corn sugar/Champagne yeast but when I went back to learn more it seems much more involved than that.
