I of course have no statistical poll to back up this contention but my gut tells me that 75% of college football fans will want LSU to win.

A few reasons:

- LSU has no true archrival
- LSU has Les Miles
- Alabama has Nick Saban
- Alabama has had great historical success, which breeds contempt, but many attribute that to a storied history of big time cheating, which breeds even more contempt

LSU has Les Miles

This is pretty much the only reason America will have a favorite. They love seeing our goofy coach win games. The rest of the time they'll just be pulling for this to be the game of the decade like it's supposed to be.

I doubt anyone outside the SEC will bother to pull for one vs the other.

I believe the nation will pull for the team that gives a non-SEC team the best chance to win the NCG. That being said, I believe the nation will go for LSU, especially since they are away from home, and we always have trouble with Arky...

Something about using the word whom and ending the sentence with a preposition upsets me.

It's as if you tried to sound a proper but still messed it up.

Most people outside of the SEC want the field to open up and swallow both teams. They are sick of seeing another SEC team win the national championship.

LSU/Bama vs the remaining pool of Clemson, OSU/KSU, Stanford, and BSU wouldn't even be close.

honestly probably neither. But If I had to pick probably alabama. LSU has been portrayed as the new "U" and I don't know how that will sit with folks in America.

Honestly, all bias aside, if I were watching this game I would be pulling for LSU. I really don't care to pull for the perceived old guard, or hyped up media darlings, which Bama is and will always be, as will USC, Notre Dame, Michigan, tOSU, and Texas whenever they have a great team. It's always the same and I get real tired of hearing it to be honest with you. O, bias aside, I pull for LSU.

I will tell you why people will pick LSU; TWO REASONS

LINK

People outside of Gumpville are sick of seeing Bama being the identity of college football.

LSU is more fun to watch! (Honey Badger, CLM, our D, off the field drama, ect)

I really feel that most people outside the SEC will choose Bama simply bc they are a more historically known program. I feel that the majority of the reasons you mentioned are more localized to the SEC.
Honestly, if you have focus on Alabama being a "dirty" program then you are fooling yourself. What do you think the public perception is of LSU right now? 6 suspensions served to date AND the team went on probation? Take off the purple and gold glasses friend.
