I went years without one, and in hindsight, it's some of the best money I've spent on any kitchen item, which is why I'm looking for any feedback or review on any units/brands peeps here might own.

Damn. I've never even seen one. I was just thinking that would beat the hell out of opening the oven door every 4-5 minutes to check the temp.
Why did the other one go bad, and what did you pay for it?
