I know it sounds crazy, but considering that the Tigers didn't have to give up much for him, is this the most valuable deadline deal of this decade? He has been arguably the best pitcher in the AL since the Tigers acquired him, allowing them to run away with the central.

Tonight's line- 8 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 9 K, 0 BB
Stats with the Tigers- 62 IP, 2.02 ERA, .90 WHIP, 48/5 K/BB, 2.70 FIP

Didnt Texas get Cliff Lee last year at the deadline?

Yes, but they gave up a top 20 prospect and a few other players. Fister's numbers are also better than Lee's, but Lee did help the Rangers reach the world series.

The Tigers basically got a Lee/Sabathia 2nd half pitcher for a package that would normally get your team a 5th starter.

Lee was mediocre during the regular season. Of course the regular season wasn't exactly what they got him for. They got him for the post season and he was clutch there. But I believe his ERA was something around 4 for the reg season in Texas

CC to Milwaukee. That was some of the best pitching ever.

Rick Sutcliffe to the Cubs in 1984 is another really good one, but that is going way back.

I have been a huge fan of Fister and been raving about him to my friend for a couple of seasons now. Glad to see him pitching so well.

Cliff Lee Trade to Texas:
Texas gets Cliff Lee, Mark Lowe
Seattle gets Justin Smoak, Blake Beaven, Josh Leuke

Doug Fister Trade to Detroit:
Detroit gets Doug Fister, David Pauley
Seattle gets Chance Ruffin, Charlie Furbush, Casper Wells, Fernando Martinez

Can't really tell who wins between these trades at this point. It depends on how Fister performs in the postseason since that's when the Lee trade really paid off for the Rangers. Fister's a FA after this year, right?

No, he's not even arbitration eligible until next year, he is under team control until 2015. Another huge benefit. He's pitching way over his head right now and will probably regress to the #3/4 starter that he is, but the pay-off has already been huge.

I had forgotten about the season Manny had when he got to the Dodgers, that's a good one.
