True, but seriously... Buccigross, Hodge, and Schlereth annoy me.

Bucci is the only one I like.
Peej, I really don't know about that, but I'm relatively new to TD so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt

What was public opinion of Cossell? I am old but not old enough to really remember what was said about him. I wonder if his schtick was getting old with fans our age now back then?

one of the best of all time. he was a bastion of broadcasting along with Vin Scully.

i hope you're not comparing Cossell to Chris Berman. completely different class of professionals. Cossell would not be loved by 20-somethings of today because they prefer style over substance.

No. I am not. Just wondering if anyone can speak honestly to public opinion of Cossell at the time. He has been dead a long time now and gone longer from broadcasting.

I am not debating his greatness. But it was a different time. And he interviewed so many icons.

I want to talk about Matt Cassel for a second. This guy is an outstanding game manager; the thing I like about this guy is that this guy doesn't do anything he can't do. This guy can move around a little, throw off the run, throw the deep ball ... I'm telling ya, this guy can do a little bit of everything. This guy reminds me a little of a guy I had in Oakland by the name of Rich Gannon. You don't think of this guy as an elite quarterback in the National Football League, but trust me, this guy is an elite quarterback in the National Football League. Maybe the numbers don't reflect it, but this guy gets the job done. Matt Cassel -- I like this guy.

I enjoy Berman, but then again, I'm a sucker for nostalgia. NFL highlights and the Home Run Derby just won't be the same without him.

I also really enjoy Gruden's work. I love the positive energy and his knowledge and enthusiasm for the game.

how about giving highlights in a wahy that doesn't sound like nails on a chalkboard?

The WHOOP, he does when a RB or WR makes a cut move is just terrible, sorry. His faux John Facenda voice "The frozen tundra of Lambeau Field" is so bad its like he's mocking, rather than honoring Facenda, one of the great sports narrators of all time.

My bad, you guy's are right. ESPN is sucessful, there fore everyone and everything they put on the air is AWESOME. It can't possibly suck. Anyone of the opinion that someone on the network sucks is automatically wrong. What was I thinking.

I know people start threads bashing someone or something on ESPN all the time, I've defended many people on there over the years, even guys that get bashed, like Herbstriet, who I think does a good job. Its really annoying when people jump on any prediction they make that turns out wrong, I get that, but do we really have to preface every comment that is quite clearly an opinion with a qualifier like : IMO, or I think?

Jumbeauxlaya, if you don't think he has an monsterous ego, google his outbust on MNF (I'd link it but I can't access youtube from work)
