Tharold Simon - Great performance...

I know the entire defense is getting praised for thier performance Sat, but Simon deserves his own recognition. A 6'3" CB with excellent coverage skills and a VERY agressive tackler. This guy will be a force for the next few years.
Great INT too...

He is a great player. I think this team HAS to play with 3 CB's out there cause we have too much talent to keep them on the bench.

I said after last year, that he was going to be our best pure cover corner, and I stand by that.

He's got a great eye for the ball

I never heard how serious his injury following the interception was. Any word?

I especially loved the tackling. He straight body slammed a couple of guys

There's no possibility of him trying to run a route or two at WR, huh? maybe in a goalline situation? we could use another tall receiver with hands...

In watching the replay, I noticed that he had a superlative night.

It would be very difficult for me to come out of the nickel if I was Chavis. Though I'm pretty sure we'll have Minter in the game a lot against Bama.

He's going to have a great year opposite Mo, and Tyrann. I mean, where do you throw the damn ball on this Defense?

Before the game I thought he might be substituted for when we play smaller/quicker spread teams. Very happy to be proven wrong.

Do you guys feel like Simon and Mathieu played a much better game this Mo?
Was the guy MO defending their top receiver? I'm not hating on him, just wondering what all of you thought of his play?

Eunice's hometown hero. Went there a couple of weeks ago to get a document for some summer classes I took at LSUE and half of the town was decked in "Good luck Tharold!" signs.

Definitely a team effort and the great news is you (are at least I) can't single any defensive player out as not having a great game. I think a lot of that can be credited to the coaches and the scout team giving a good representation of what we would face. Physical talent is one thing... discipline... that is another!

He was hurting dudes out there

Mo was fine. He didn't make the impact on the stat sheet that Simon and Mathieu made (nobody's going to make the impact Tyrann makes tbh) but he did what he's proven to do for a few years now..good cover guy.

Simon can flat out cover one-on-one, and especially the deep patterns. No one will ever out jump him. TM7 actually was beaten by his man on the deep ball Simon intercepted. LSU is slowly turning into Cornerback U, if you think about the pros we have turned out in last 10 years and will turn out in these next few years.
