Homewood Suites is a good place. That's where we usually stay.

My favorite downtown NOLA hotels I've stayed at are:
1) The Roosevelt
2) Marriott (Canal)
3) Hilton Riverside
4) Renaissance (Tchoup)

Roosevelt is the best, but I'm a bit biased. Homewood Suites and the Hilton on St. Charles are excellent as well.
