Who else is going to restock the wine cabinet this weekend?

No state tax won't save you a ton but it's better than nothing!
I just checked Martin's website and the Chardonnay that I really enjoyed last night is on sale!

I Like your thought process, but 4% isn't enough to get me to stock up. I too look for excuses to stock up on the liquor, but this aint one of em.

Yeah, the real bitch is a wine store will use this as an excuse not to give you the standard case 10% discount. So if you buy a case this weekend you are really paying 6% than you normally would.

It just so happens that I only have one bottle left in the residence. I should probably go without for a while but that's no fun!

Not trying to be a debbie downer just pointing out that your original intention (Stock up) while good is better done when you can get the 10% discount.

Wouldn't it be business as usual for the retailer? The only difference is that they won't be collecting the 4% state sales tax to pass along to the Great State.
ETA: And I do plan on stocking up on beer and wine.

I think it is pretty much retailers take off 4%. Could be wrong but dont think businesses or tax entities would want to go through a month's receipts and subtract out 4% from one particular weekend's totals.
Know when we pay sales tax it is just a simple calculation of monthly sales numbers times amount. Again could be wrong, was always just under the impression that was they way it was handled.

Hen you are right.
No need to adjust normal prices and sales discounts since the removal of sales tax doesn't hurt the store in any way. It will bring a bit more business but not enough for a store to adjust their pricing model for one day.
The only products that will be flexible in pricing are those that are around the $2500 tax break limit.

Acquistapace's in Covington has Sierra Nevada on sale for 6.99, so I figure I would stock up regardless. The 4% discount is lagniappe. I will probably pick up some wine while I'm there, but they don't do a case discount.

If you like interesting red wines, Acquistapace carries Robert Foley's The Griffin. Solid wine.
