I think Brees gets a 6 year, 102 million deal.

That might happen.

He is 2-3 years younger than Brady/Manning so I could see the Saints giving him a longer deal so he could get to the "100 million QB club" or backload the deal on a 6-7 year deal so that he can claim highest paid QB.

In terms of actual money that he will see it will probably be like everyone has said around $16 million annually.

Chris Mortensen of ESPN writes that Manning will get $69 million over the next three years. (For comparison, Brady got $48.5 million over his first three years on his extension.) That means Manning is “only” due $10.5 million-per-year in the final two years of his deal. It’

Peter King of SI.com explains the possible logic behind the deal:

“The new TV deal in 2014 will allow the team to re-do it. Sensible,” King writes.

Then again, Manning will be 38 years old in 2014. The guy is one of the all-time greats, but he’s not immortal so it’s a little early to assume anything that will happen that far down the road.

In the meantime, Manning will essentially be the game’s highest paid player by a fairly large margin.
------------

yowza, I'm glad if there is one thing I'm confident in Loomis about is how to structure a deal for the team's benefit.

Brees is 33 next year so it'll be interesting to see how they spread it out, front end/back end.

If nobody minds, I'll dream of Brees saying "Give me another 5 X $50m like you gave me before, let's win 3 Super Bowls." PS I'm pretty drunk.

He'll never see the full terms of that contract. He has maybe 2-3 years left to play at 35.

Well good thing then that Peter King says he is due $69 million of that $80 in the first 3 years.

$23 Million a fricking year

Those last 2 years are only worth $10 million

He'll be pretty close to breaking records by that time assuming he stays healthy. I could see him playing till 40 in order to take down Favre.

Brees will be smart enough to take less money so that the Saints have money to keep a good team around him. He's smart and not selfish.

Dude, I love brees too but I doubt he takes less money. $15 mil a year is what I'd guess.
