I know this is a Wisconsin based columnist so there is probably some Big Ten bias but its a college football article none the less.
Rankings shows
#1 Alabama
#2 Penn State
#3 Nebraska
#4 Oregon
#5 Florida Gators
#6 Michigan
#7 Oklahoma
#8 LSU
#9 Service Acadmies
#10 Auburn
I've been to both PSU and LSU games. I don't think PSU should be as high as #2 as the fan bases have fallen off quite a bit in the last few years. The student sections rarely packs the house for noon games and is often late (probably hungover). Sure they pack the house for the Big games that are shown on ESPN but if they want to be rated among the best student section in the country they need to be there for the pansies they play too. A lot of this has to do with the way the university allocates student tickets and how they now control the resale of those tickets. As well as the retarded way they make the students snake into the stadium.
I've been to several LSU games and I think they should be ranked higher. A night game at Tiger Stadium ranks as one of my all time great experiences. The LSU fan base is as good as any in the country. That being said there is room for improvement. Fans were leaving in droves for the WVU game in the 4th quarter. Really Really surprised me because it was a out of conference game against a pretty good opponent and a really well played close game. Also noticed the stadium half empty for Mcneese State game. I know it was Mcneese state and the weather was bad, but fans should support their team regardless. I was also disappointed in the pathetic showing for the spring game.
All in all I don't think PSU deserves a #2 ranking, and I don't think LSU deserves a #8 ranking. What's your thoughts?
I apologize if this has been posted before, I searched and didn't see any thread on this article.

LSU should be higher and South Carolina should be in the top ten.

I've watched Big 12 games at Nebraska and OU, with OU being the best hands down. In fact, I thought there game day atmosphere was pretty damn good, and their stadium was bad arse. I'll take LSU's atmosphere over both, but both of their stadiums were packed until the clock read 00:00.

Screw OOC

One, it's Bleacher Report, which is frowned upon because literally anyone can write an article there.
Two, I've been to most of the stadiums in the SEC, and a couple in the Big 12 and the Pac 12.
I've never sen anything like the gameday experience at LSU elsewhere, period.

On the WVU game, it was an 8:00pm kickoff, which means the game ended around 11:30pm if I remember correctly(I did stay til the end) and it was boring as shite to watch. Other than PP's returns and some very nice defensive plays, it was a horrific night to watch the LSU offense.
LSU fans know which games to get up for, but they seem too far and few between these days. We will have 3 home games this year that are worth a crap(UF, Auburn & Arkie) and they may all likely be played during the day. Auburn is the only one that may end up being a night game.
As far as the spring game goes, that's a complete waste of time when you can watch it live on ESPN. LSU fans know when to show up and the spring game isn't the time to do so IMO.

Penn state, Oregon, Michigan and the Academies need to be dropped to lower positions. I've been to games in Ann Arbor and its like attending a wake. No crowd noise at all.
I agree South Carolina has some of the best fans in college football and should be higher.

Bama 1. What are the requirements; pissing and moaning if your school hasn't won a title in 2 years.

Oregon being that high is a joke. "Fans" of Oregon football basically care about their team for 4 hours on 12 Saturdays in the fall. There isn't a real passion there that is widespread like it is in the South. They turn it on and off.
