First official word on Chris Tolliver?

I know it's been reported that Tolliver can no longer play, but this is the first I've seen it straight from the horse's mouth:
Game Over
quote:
Tolliver, who suffered three concussions in the past year, no longer is allowed to play for LSU due to the risk of a long-term head injury. He started last year's fall camp as a contender for a starting job but now he is burdened with a decision on whether or not to hang up football altogether.
"I want to play, but concussions aren't nice," Tolliver said.
The soon-to-be redshirt junior, who is still in Baton Rouge working out with the team, said the only way he could play football again is if he were to transfer.
"It's been a rough road," Tolliver said. "I had one of the major concussions you can have, and since then it's not been easy for me."
Game Over

Truly a sad story, but he's still got his scholly, I guess, so he can get his degree and maybe become a first-rate coach.
Best of luck to him.
Best of luck to him.

that sucks... wonder why he can't just sign a waiver absolving LSU of any responsibility if he has another concussion.

I think you're missing the point here.

Because he and his family won’t, nor will LSU’s medical or coaching staff, allow him to continue to play a game that puts him at risk for becoming a vegetable.
Would be reprehensibly irresponsible for anyone of authority or influence in his life to allow him or even suggest to him to keep playing.

the article made it sound like he's considering transferring? Guess I read it wrong

I wonder if he can play point guard.

it's not worth it, getting a degree is his best option.

No school is going to put a 20 year old kid on the field just becuase they've signed a waiver if there is a serious risk of permanent brain injury.

So, he is no longer allowed to play at LSU, but he is considering transferring to another school to play there? Am I understanding this right?

Yes, but that is why schools have coaches and doctors that make decisions on who can play. When I was 20, I would have still wanted to play too. I'd be surprised to see another school take him on and let him play.

Sucks, I was looking forward to seeing him play. Wish him the best of luck.

With all the publicity concerning head injuries, and the reports from these players as time progresses, I cant imagine he does not gladly walk away.
If he was my kid, I would strongly advise him to not continue down the road of contact sports.
I really thought he would contribute. Too bad for him, but health has to come first. Get your degree, and use your noggin while you still can.

I was actually just thinking about this whether they had officially said he was done. Anyway you gotta really feel bad for CT, I and alot of other tiger fans had high hopes for him going into next season
