Sad. How far we have fallen. And we had double digit page threads about how we were screwed out of being the 63rd or 64th team in the NCAA tournament. Pitiful.

I don't care much about the method, just the wins and the championships.

now that the season is over, how many of you prefer small ball over gorilla ball?

gorilla ball won us 5 maybe 6 championships yeah gorilla ball unfortunately the bats don't help out with that. I think we should focus more on a aggressive base-running type game, move people over with hits and runs put pressure on people by stealing stretching plays into a double like katz does.

I hate giving people outs

I truly miss gorilla ball. I don't like the new bats, but we are stuck with them so can we please get a hitting coach.
I agree PM whinned about the new bats so much, it prob. did get into the players heads.
EXCEPT for Mikie, I talked to him in the beginning of the season and he told me the bats weren't as bad as he thought they would be.
Let's just work with what we have and get the job done, I'm sick of losing.

None of us liked seeing LSU struggle this year, but what did you think of the new bats? I liked them.

I've got no problem with them, no cheap homeruns. Gotta get all of it to hit it out, thats fine with me. There were a couple of balls that I thought were gone by a mile that ended up on the warning track. I guess I wouldn't mind putting just an ounce more of power into the bats, but not all the way back to what they were last year.

Overall, fine with me. Hitters can still hit.

This. But Gorilla Ball is our legacy, so I'd prefer to see us return to what helped win 5-6 titles as others have already noted.

As far as the new bats, I am fine with them. No cheap home runs but good hits can still get out. Mikie didn't seem to have too much trouble with the change - we just need to find more Mikie Mahtooks!!

I basically agree with josh.

However, what the new bats did was pretty much eliminate big comebacks. If a team gets a 5 or 6 run lead by the middle innings of the game, the game is pretty much over now.

Before, you could always think of having that big, two or even three homeruns in the same inning type comeback, so no lead was truly out of reach. Fans stayed at the game longer knowing anything could happen. I confess this past season when we would get down by a big margin, I knew the game was over and I would leave before the 7th inning stretch. (Go ahead, 'tards, criticize me for leaving early. I'm a man. I can take it! ) Not a single game when I left early this season did LSU come back and win the game.

To me, that is the biggest impact of the new bats and I think it makes the game a less interesting.

I'm holding judgement on the new bats simply because our biggest problem this year was not hitting the ball period (with exception to a few players but even they weren't consistent). Getting down in the count 0-2 and striking out with the bat resting on their shoulder watching the first two pitches sail right up the middle splitting the plate about belt high. That shite has got to go! And then they work themselves down in the count and will hit into a double play and/or straight at 2nd or shortstop.

In other words, we need somebody to coach these guys with a completely different hitting philosophy.

My hope, just like when they changed the bats in 99, is that the sport will adapt and we'll start to see more homeruns the next couple years. Not alot more, but a few more.
