I have been saying that Coach M
went overboard in his reaction to the change in bats. I went to some of the fall practices and they were using wooden bats. I thnk he psyched the players into beliving that college baseball would be more like the wooden bat leagues that some of our players competed in last summer

Do you realize the new composite bats weren't delivered to the team until the second week of Fall practice, thus the team used wood bats out of necessity?

Just win. A 2-1 game can be as exciting as a10-8 game.

This shite is BORING.

Boring? How can you say a hit and run with a runner going from first to third is boring? Or how can you say a double steal is boring? Or what about a squeeze play? There is absolutely nothing boring about it. Also, with the new bats you have to be a better all around hitter than with the old bats. You have to be a more knowledgeable and better all around baseball player to play small ball. Don't get me wrong, I do miss LSU playing geauxrilla ball, it's won us a lot of games. But small ball isn't boring. I love teams who put pressure on the defense it wins a lot of games.

Obviously gorilla ball was right for its time. But as many have noted, the change in bats requires adaptation.

If Coach PM does not get us to the regionals again next year, he should be a gone pecan.

To be philosophical and politcal, the scholarship limitations have turned college baseball upside down. The fan-popular programs continue to suffer from the communistic idea that a society must be nondiscriminatory such that equal outcomes must be guaranteed.

now that the season is over, how many of you prefer small ball over gorilla ball?
I gotta go with gorilla ball.

Are you suggesting that playing Gorilla Ball is a viable option?

NCAA went a little far with the new bats IMO.

I agree with this.

I don't mind the minimizing of the home run. That does nothing to lessen the enjoyment of the game for me.

But, I don't recall a single opposite field home run this year (I'm sure there were some, but they were few). That's a problem, IMO.

I think they took it too far.

i miss the twists and turns in the game that the HR provided w/ the old bats. i mean it still happens, but w/ gorilla ball (and bad pitching) it could be any batter, any time

but i don't think small ball is boring at all. i love CBB

I agree that most coaches objected to the bat change, but I don't think most started bunting the 2 hole hitter in the first inning when the leadoff man reached base.

I think most coaches went way to far with this. Alabama's lineup had plenty of guys that struggled hitting for average, much less power. Yet one of our best hitting (for average) Brock Bennett, who hit 2nd, was going to bunt every time Taylor Dugas lead off the inning getting on base. Drove me insane. Think he finished with something like 21 SAC bunts on the year.

Ray Tanner often does the same with Scott Wingo, one of their better hitters. Why take the bat out of one of your better hitter's hands?

I think everyone misses gorilla ball. Hell even in the bigs people like the guys who hit it deep.

LSU was born an raised on gorilla bal...an we need to get it back in a sense.

This is how I would rank the options:

1. Winning w/ Gorilla Ball
2. Winning w/ small ball
3. Losing w/ Gorilla Ball
4. Losing w/ small ball

Not a single game when I left early this season did LSU come back and win the game.
Hell there were quite a few games where you'd have been better served leaving before the start of the 9th inning.

And y'all can complain about small ball all you want, but the only offensive record we did manage to set this year was Tyler Hanover setting the single season record for sac bunts!
