Is trent using this opportunity to scout italy? bring in some untapped talent?

Using it more for practice and additional games, but he did mention that they would be playing some U19 teams and he would be doing some scouting of possible recruits.

works for me. whatever it takes to improve this program. I do like this move, get them some more experience against quality competition. can see what JH brings to this team. unfortunately won't have JOB for it. is the first game tomorrow or thursday? i heard on the radio that it was wednesday (when they'd say what weekday it was) but they kept saying may 19th for the date.

Vandy getting AJ Ogilvy sure worked wonders.

The Tigers will also work on new defensive sets designed to push the ball to the sidelines and motion offense plays which Johnson said he will employ for the first time in his coaching career.

from the article in the advocate...nice.

a motion offense would be ideal for this team b/c they don't have anyone on the team who can create their own shot. by implementing a motion offense, shot would be created by default.

also a good way for these guys to work on their passing/catching abilities in order to make it work. really stuggled with those fundamentals especially against the better teams they faced.

If Trent goes 0-6 and loses to the U19 team does Alleva pull the trigger?

3-3 might be reasonable prediction

If your gonna go overseas why not schedule something when your recruits can go play for developmental purposes. UK went to Canada with all their incoming recruits last summer. If they waited another two weeks you could bring O'Bryant, Hickey and Isaac

Are you really bitching about this?

And you want a coach fired for how his team plays in a summer touring exhibition?

seems reasonable. there's obviously no talent overseas so if we can't just go out there and dominate, it's apparent TJ is just not cut out for this gig and will need to go.

I could care less if we go 0-6 on this trip. He's trying to change the offensive philosophy a bit and improve our young talent. Going on this trip will be a benefit, regardless of the meaningless outcome.

quote:

One drawback for Johnson is the timing of the trip. The Tigers aren't allowed to bring their incoming freshman class of guards Anthony Hickey and John Isaac, as well as McDonald's All-American forward Johnny O'Bryant.

The freshmen won't enroll for summer school until June, making them ineligible to make the trip.

"If we had made the decision to go in the middle of August, they could go," Johnson said.

But Johnson said an August excursion would have taxed too heavily on the team ahead of the season.

"That puts a real strain on a long year for the returning players, and they don't have enough time to get back before school starts and get a break," he said.
