Dean Martin "Kid Crochet" was a boxer.
As was Bob Hope.

Middle of page 4 he's mentioned.
Can't believe I forgot former BAMA halfback and one time Rose Bowl MVP Johnny Mack Brown who became a famous western star in the 30's.

I know someone mentioned Mark Harmon, and I didn't know he was an athlete till the ESPN year of the QB episode that showed him playing for UCLA, but was was even more surprising was Kenny Mayne of ESPN playing for Seattle. I know he's not an actor, but he's on TV and doesn't look like an athlete.
quote:
A native of Kent, Washington, Mayne is a former honorable mention junior college All-American quarterback in 1978 at Wenatchee Valley Community College in Wenatchee, WA. Kenny graduated from University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 1982, with a degree in Broadcasting, where he was the back-up quarterback and ahead of future NFL star Randall Cunningham on the depth chart.[citation needed] While at UNLV, Mayne played football for two years and later signed as a free agent with the Seattle Seahawks.

And I was even more surprised by that after watching him play in the celebrity softball games during All Star weekend. He looked really awkward and uncoordinated.
