I really like it and eat there regularly, in fact I had lunch there earlier this week. Lechon asado with black beans and rice with a side of maduritos is hard to beat.

Glad to see they're still doing good. I went to their original location on verot when it first opened and liked it alot. I'll need to hit that up this weekend.

Chain-ish style I guess. But do you really consider 4 restaurants being a chain? Posado's is more of a chain with 14 restaurants (10 in texas 4 in LA)
I would say 3 is a chain but regardless the food is good and the margaritas aret too. I don't find Posadas very good. I want to try the 2PaulsBBQ but I haven't had Dwights yet either. Which one is better?

I go to Dwight's exclusively for crawfish. Never been to 2Pauls but I hear good things.
I also gotta give praise to Johnston's Boucaniere. Their pulled pork and brisket sandwiches are amazing, you can add pork sausage to either one also. Worth it. Some of the best boudin in Lafayette comes from here also.
Can't go wrong with any of them.

Disappointing to hear that LaFonda's food sucks now. In the '70s and '80s that place was the tits.

Damn, that sounds good. I usually get the brisket at bbq places. What is the general opinion of Eddies? I think it's pretty good.

And after 4:00pm you can go in and get a whole smoked / bbq'ed yard bird for like $4.00. Bring it home and feast on it like a drunken Neandrathal.

I have to agree on Johnsons. Pulled pork with the saussage is awesome. They also have a pulled pork grilled cheese that is awesome. They should be hopping for the festival this weekend.

quote:They are different, but both good. Dwights is going to be typical Cajun BBQ, chicken, sausage, pork steak, ribs, rice dressing, potato salad, beans. 2Pauls is more typical of standard BBQ: ribs, pulled pork, brisket, chicken. Sides are good, especially the mac and cheese.

LaFonda's is still popular and I find the food basically the same compared to back then. I've had better mexican food at other places but the food is still good. Margaritas are kickass.
'70s and '80s was a unique and crazy time in lafayette. It was the last of the big time oil booms for Lafayette. Lots of money flying around.

I used to always go here after a long night of drinking. Passed out in the booth in more than one occasion. Great menu, esp for it being 24 hrs.
