Last in the SEC two years in a row? Sorry no excuse when you are the only major college in the state

The University of Maine is the only major college in that state. The University of Nebraska is the only major college in that state. Why don't those teams dominate? Maybe it's because their state's high school talent sucks, and here's a news flash for the football people.... Louisiana basketball talent the last two years has sucked as well.

You have no place in this argument. The pro-trent's most valid point is that Louisiana talent has been abysmal the last 3 years. Even the anti-trent guys on this board realize this.

So LSU being the only major program in a state with NO TALENT has nothing to do with this discussion

When Alleva force Van to resign as women's BB coach with one year left on his contract, that also sent a message to Trent. If Trent goes 18-13 and does not make the NCAA history, there better be one heck uv a lot of good stuff that happened during the season for Alleva to keep him around for the last year.

Van has 5 juniors returning as seniors next season, but not getting to the NCAA was what did him in.

Can't wait to see what happens next season. I want Trent to succeed, I hope he succeeds because if he doesn't, LSU basketball is back to rebuilding again.

I will save this thread to be bumped during next year's NCAA tournament when the LSU Tigers are once again dancing.

You do realize that Stanford was better before Johnson got there...right? Of course you don't because you are talking out of your arse.

Look at UNC, Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, etc...for the most part filled with underclassman.

So your argument is that we should be one of the greatest programs of all time? I wish it were that easy and that possible. I'm sure each of those schools have fans like you on their side that think, "why can't we be LSU, Alabama, Florida, Texas, and USC" in football. It doesn't work that way.

Yes it does work that way. Billy Donovan of Florida is just one example.

17-20 wins next year

6-9 in SEC

not sure if that will keep him around or not.

He's been pretty mediocre after the 2 national titles.

He is just now getting back to elite status.

Similar numbers sure couldn't keep Van around.

You do realize that Standford hasn'tdone anything since he left, right?

If he can accomplish this or better, he may deserve to finish his contract.

Aside from two years I would not consider Florida a basketball power. They are certainly one of the more consistent teams in a poor SEC, but they have not risen to the level of the schools listed.

Finding the right coach isn't that easy. UF didn't go out and grab some known commodity. He was a dude with a mediocre record at a mediocre school in Marshall. If we hired a similar guy with a similar resume, you would just be pissed at Alleva because he couldn't land some known commodity. Unlike you, I'm realistic. There are no big names that are coming. Get over it.

Nicholls and N TX whipped our arse.
Should never happen in a coach's 3rd year in a program. Excuses are BS in this situation. THe team has progressively worsened under TJ.

Yep Trent left when the cupboard was pretty much bare and their two big men were going to the league. Even so Dawkins has still won 20 conference games in his 3 years. Good job by him to keep them somewhat competitive.

Are you affirming that Brady left TJ more talent at LSU than TJ left his successor at Stanford?

TJ got left a decade long 20+ win a season program. How did he leave it after several years? His last year was over 20 wins. The talent was gone when he left due to his bad recruiting.
