What does the outdoor board think of this? After my thread last week I took some of the opinions and went looking at the gun show. I picked up one of these and it just felt good in my hand. I was just wondering if anyone has one or has any experience with it. I am debating on 9mm or .40, I carry a full size glock 17 9mm for work so I am comfortable with that caliber with lots of ammo for it. But does it have the stopping power for stopping an attacker? Is there much difference in caliber?

9mm is plenty of fire power...

If you like the Glock 17 check out the Glock 26

9mm is plenty of power if you hit your target. No caliber change will correct it if you don't.

I bought the PPS with the 7round mag in 9mm. I was very happy with my other weapons, except for the weight and thickness of them. The PPS fixes those problems, and feels and performs great.

I love it, and its my primary carry now.

That's what I thought, I didn't think the caliber made too much of a difference between 9 and 40. But I was considering changing most of my guns to .40 because when I get done with my academy I am going to probably get a new glock .40 from work to carry on duty.

Look for and try out a Kahr.... especially if you like glock. Kahr makes one of the best compact weapons out there for concealed carry.... and there are several models to choose from. Highly recommend them. Personally wouldn't trust a ppk with my life. Have seem way to many problems with them in the past.

I prefer .45, but seriously, with todays ammo its all about preference. I find the .40 and .357sig to be too "snappy" for my personal shooting style.

Walther can be conceal carry, given the right clothing and holster. If I can conceal a full size 1911 I am pretty sure you won't have any probs unless you are a really small guy.

Being able to hit what where you want is way more important than the size of the bullet. 9mm with quality ammo will do the job if you do yours....

sorry.... didn't say they were cheap. but shoot one before you make any judgements. Very high quality gun, they are the only company to start off with a compact version and work their way up to full size. Makes a difference.

Burgeman,
Although not my choice in a CCW, the Walther PPS(Police Pistol Slim) is a well respected weapon for that purpose. It's light, slim (single stack grip), has a striker firing mechanism, and has plenty of firepower w/ 6, 7 or 8 +1 magazines. The mag release lever is unconventional. As to your other question, w/ the right defensive loads, the 9mm has more than adequate stopping power. It's hard to find fault w/ a gun that's adequate for the task and feels right in YOUR hands.

Here's a debate about the PPS vs Glock 26.

This is a nice write up on the PPS.

Thanks for the links and the help. I think I am going ahead and pulling the trigger on the PPS when the taxes get done. I will report back when I get to shoot it.
