Is that Jr Purples?

Great pic. My boys have binoculars like that. They always bring them when we go hunting.

Did you take the photo in your sig pic? It's amazing.

Nah, friend of mine. It's taken just down the road from my house on Douglas Island looking toward the airport and Mendenhall Glacier.

I've always been fascinated with the northern lights, hope I can see them one day. We're headed to Niagara Falls at the end of May, but I'm pretty sure that's still too far south to see the lights.

Sometimes you can see them that far south but it's very very rare. Look up the aurora forcasts on the internet when you get there.

Aurora is really amazing. They were visible here last night, hopefully tonight. There was a major breakout last month and led to some awesome aurora sightings.

Really cool video of that outbreak

That video is awesome. I'm sure it pales in comparison to what it looks like in person.

I was supposed to go to Homer a couple summers ago for a halibut trip, but it never worked out. I really regret it

Yeah, it's really freaky. No matter how many times you see it, you still find it surreal.

Always another time. Homer isn't that difficult to get to, relatively. Beautiful little town they have there.

The weather has been incredible. Sunny, and actually t-shirt weather this afternoon (for us, anyway.) Amazing day. Folks are getting the boats out. The sky was so damn blue against the white peaks today. I can't wait til tomorrow, hope it's more of the same.

Thought this was kind of cool. Beaver dam in the front, and the waterfall up on the mountain behind it that feeds the stream that's dammed.

Another beaver dam. Stormy weather rolling in behind it.

Different kind of Beaver. De Havilland DHC-2 Beaver

Went fishing for kings, but nothing. Guess that $10,000 isn't going to be mine...

Went to Fish Creek trail today and hiked down to the tidal flats. This is prime duck hunting and king salmon area.

Nice place for a house. HDR image

Another house along the trail. These are a couple miles north of my place on Douglas Island

Lupine. Means its finally summer

Fritz Cove

Fish Creek. Nice salmon and trout stream and good place to see bears later in the summer.

Muskeg meadow. These little trees in muskeg are hundreds of years old. They don't grew much on the peat like soil.

Shrubber - great pics. I'd never be able to "one up" you on photographic beauty but I figured I might add to the pile.

Knight's Valley (wine region) with a trapped marine layer. The marine layer is nature's air conditioning around here.

And here is the mouth of the Gualala River.

Black Bear chasing down a stick.

Black Bear yelling at me to throw the stick again.

And my personal favorite:

I was headed to work one morning and stopped to take a picture of the marine layer blanketing Alexander Valley and got out of the truck and walked to the edge of the road and I stumbled upon Sonoma County in all it's beauty.
