I also want Patterson..Knows how to win, Great D, and I think the lure of being in the SEC with a team loaded with studs will be a big reason to jump on

Then why all the fuss about Malzahn?

Really? Is that why our last two coaches left us?

Cowher.

He would be great and would fit in great down here. Fans would LOVE him and I think if he gave it a chance, would love the atmosphere. His kind of place.

FWIW, allegedly feelers have been put out to Pelini. At least the administration is being pro-active so that way if Miles leaves, they know who is available.

Cowher has always been my fantasy coach for LSU.

Who would be fired up more for a game? Him or the team?

If Saban left tomorrow Gus Malzahn would be on there short list at Alabama. Some LSU fans want Patterson, Gruden, or Petterson. None of these people will be our next coach so we want Chip Kelley aint gonna happen. Who is the best realistic fit for LSU? I think the defense is fine so who is the best OC in the country? Gus Malzahn is sitting there waiting for his chance to be a HC. Pellini or Tuberville are there for the taking but they both got baggage we dont need. Again Saban and Miles were not considered top tier coaches when hired but both did remarkably well. Mississipi State is pretty damn happy with that former Florida OC Dan Mullen. By the boards logic Dan Mullen would not be a good choice for LSU if he were still at Florida.

Assistants are huge gambles.

We are LSU. We hire the resume, and that means the best coach we can get, and that means not trying to look like a damn genius by hiring a coach no one knew about.

Yep - we are past the ages of Stovall, Hallman and DiNardo.

Are you serious?

You don't know Gus Malzahn?

If LSU is only looking at HC's then hire Pellini or Tuberville. Do you think those guys can run an offense as effectively as Gus Malzahn? Again would you hire Dan Mullen if he was still the OC at Florida? Come on people...

What "school" did last two coaches leave us for???

As to "Malzahn", I would love to have him as the LSU OC.

I'm not sure bout having a HC at LSU with 4 years of college experience and none aa a HC, but you can't knock his O to this point in time.

WTF does that mean to a coach? Coaches are usually suckers for traditional powerhouses. LSU is not that to the top-tier coaches.

Like I said earlier, if LSU was so high and mighty on a coaches radar, how did we end up with a 28-21 coach out of middle of the road Ok St? Why did our last two coaches leave us?

LSU fans need to wake up and smell the roses - LSU will NEVER hire a sure-fire coach because those coaches are holding out for Texas, USC, Notre Dame, and Alabama to come calling. LSU will make its mark by continuing to find those diamonds in the rough from mid-tier schools.

It really takes a fool to believe that an ex-NFL head coach would EVER coach at LSU these days. Simply won't happen. I appreciate the optimism with those ideas, however.

Well, the title of this thread implies that Miles leaves us for Michigan. If we are such a dream job for coaches, how did we end up with Miles? We were coming off of a recent NC and a full cupboard of talent and still had Top 10 dollars.

Miles hasn't gone and Nick didn't leave "us" for a school but for a pro team. Much like SS left Florida for a pro team.

If Miles does leave "us", it will be to Michigan where he went to school, played, and coached.

I don't see either one of those cases as some kinda knock against LSU, but each to our own.

In the last 11 seasons LSU ranks in the Top 5 for winning percentage among BCS schools, has won 4 BCS Bowls, and is tied for #1 in most BCS NC with two.

That's elite status and if you don't know that or refuse to admit it, that's your right but shame on you.

IMO, the administration thinks a lot like you. Miles was the guy they offered. That is the only reason he is here.
How did we get Saban? An outsider knew his stuff and made him an offer he couldn't refuse.
Good Ole Boys offer candidates such as Hallman and Dinardo.
