debit card .. it didn't give me an option for a tip at all ..
I haven't been in awhile, but I'm almost positive it gave me the option with my credit card.

One reason the handicap space is there is because it is code and they have to do it. And if I stop with the carpool we sometimes get out and sit at a table. Nothing like a hot dog and diesel fumes.
And I always tip a couple bucks.

Do you tip at Subway, Wendys, Burger King etc?

They don't walk the food out to you. Also, at least in my experience, Sonic carhops tend to be the friendliest fast food employees out there. It's worth a buck or two to have a smiling, polite face bring food to my car than have to deal with Tatatalicious at the average fast food window.

Exactly. And they're supposed to have someone coming around giving you condiments, napkins, etc.
When I worked there, $1 made me VERY happy. 50 cents was normal.
I got like $20 tops a night.
It's certainly not expected so no need to think they're on a high horse or something. (not you, haha .. people in general)

Carhop today brought me my cherry slush in full Santa garb...she deserved $5, but she got a buck. Deduction for no skates.

I guess now that I do know I will start tipping them. (:

I just don't see that big of a difference between what they do, or my expectation of service from any other fast food joint.

Technically, they're supposed to check on you now and again.
