So, I was told by my boyfriend that I'm supposed to tip at Sonic. Is this true?

I understand it's a pain to roller skate ten feet to my car and all....but...really?

Yes. I rarely go to Sonic, but if they skate to the car I give them at least a dollar.

Sonic is not even good, so going there in the first place is your first problem, and then thinking you need to tip at a fast food restaurant because they walk five steps to your car to give you something is ridiculous.

I think Sonic fricked themselves when they added all of the elecronic card readers at each spot. No one carries cash anymore and the machines do not give an option to tip.

I typically tip them when I have cash, but cannot do so when I pay with card.

I tip for a meal, but not if I just order a drink.

Here is my question about sonic. Why is there a handicap ordering space closest to the building. You don't get out of your car so why is there a spot reserved? Just curious.

You don't HAVE to, but out of common courtesy I always throw them a few bucks

i know .. why is that ?? it is like a gigantic oversight on sonic's part to not allow you to tip via the card reader ... it happened to me a few nights ago .. i didn't have a dime on me and i think a i scrounged up about 50 cents out of my ash tray ..

That's what I thought as well. It's not like I was at a 'sit down' restaurant and the waiter/waitress was refilling my drink, checking up on me, etc.

I was a friggin' carhop in high school (I know, I know...). A dollar's about all they expect, or just scoop the loose change out of your console and hand it over. It adds up.

Technically, they're supposed to check on you now and again.
