Should that not give Les a pass for 2008 (you keep referring to the last 3 years)? And really 2009, we had 1 bonehead loss to OM. other than that we lost to Bama and Fla, the 2 best teams in the country. Maybe the last 2 years was a lull for us? This year we have 2 loses to the #2 and #8 teams on the road.

you left out a key part of his argument, particularly:
"FL was breaking in a new QB, which always gives you a pass."

we were effectively breaking in a 3rd string qb in 2008. shouldn't that give les a pass?
also tough to argue we weren't breaking in a new (19 year old) qb in 2009, "which always gives you a pass."

Don't you know, cherry picking is the 1st sign of a bankrupt argument.

10-2, 6-2, and BCS player till the end of the season....if that bothers you...tough.

Are we incapable of admitting that process matters?
What if LSU went 13-0, but needed a last second dumbass miracle on every single game - including ULM and the like? Sure, you'd be happy with the MNC, but would you really argue that the coach was good?

No. Process does matter.

I'd rather have AL's record and a coach like Saban (notice I said a coach like Saban) than LSU's record and Les.

Anyone except your typically delusional posi-Miles would say the same thing. Why? Because an objective observer would point to at least two games that LSU really should have lost, UNC & TN. Those teams which were much inferior to LSU. There is no repeatability to Les' outcomes.

Better question: Are so called positigers capable of critical analysis?

Process matters over results? You must be a bureaucrat.

Should have? But didn't? My my my.
Now tell me about the games LSU should have won but didn't?
Late to this party dude. It's all been said before. Put on your picklehaub and go home.

I think process absolutely matters to anyone interested in consistent, long-term results. People here focus too much on short term outcomes. Winning ten games this year and thus extending Miles' tenure will likely be bad for LSU in the long run.

They are happy with results regardless of how fortunate we have been.
Classic "ends justifies the means" blinders-mindset that is epidemic in our culture today. It is no wonder the world is in such a mess.

Based on your own statement, you are satisfied with a decent coach (your defination of Les Miles) yet paying Les Miles the salary of a elite coach. We could get a decent coach for far less then $3.75M annually.

If our goal is to have a decent team each year, then Les Miles is our guy.

Hey, I'm agreeing with your post. You said nobody cares about process. "Ends justifies the means" says the same thing. Long as we win, who cares how it happens. Sorry if this zipped by, wasn't intended to exclude. But then as I re-read your post, maybe the shoe fits?

you would argue a 13-0 n.c. is bad? geeze. a coach had something to do with the wins. he had to get the players. he had to get the players to execute a plan to win the fing game.

Lester, people just don't get that we'll never win another SEC title with Les. Too many great coaches in the league that week in and week out have better prepared their program to win. Miles may win a few games, but never enough.
