.308 is the caliber that is used in most competitions for long range shooting. Relatively inexpensive compared to other long range calibers.

Amazing gun. Probably won't get one under $2k, and ammo is expensive as hell.

If you're talking about for hunting, a 7mm Mag is a great choice.

A shooting club that my FIL knows took 7 out of 10 spots at a competition in NV earlier this year. He said that most were either using a wildcat round that they made or a 22-250.

Biggest issue I could see with a 22-250 is wind.

When I was looking for similar I decided on .308

If it was good enough for the Marine Sniper Rifles for so many years I figured it was good enough for me.
