I guess I'm missing the sarcasm? Its used correctly?

Seriously? There infinite JJ vs. JL, Les is an idiot, LSU is the laughing stock, blah, blah, blah threads, but THESE threads--the positive ones encouraging everybody to stick together and support the team are the ones that make your eyes bleed? fricking seriously?

Its been well documented that I'm not a fan of those either. If you want to comb through my post history thats fine, but I've blasted most of those sorts of threads multiple times. I'm just sick of people saying blah blah I'm a better fan because of this/that/otherfricking thing.

i am 35. I grew up around university lakes. My grandmother (passed) would come over when i was little (wickersham and hodson days), she bled P and G all her life, didn't matte what sport or how bad they were doing. Then with archer and currly it got really bad, but that was ok cause tickets were CHEAP!! and the game only a couple blocks away!!!

One of the best post i have read in a long time maybe ever. It wasn't about the really fast good players (cause we never really got very many), it was about our boys out there fighting for us. You, me, everyone. The goaline stands, eddie kennison on the returns and of course my favorite, hodson throwing touchdown passes. We may not of won them all, but we were going to fight like hell trying

I also think dinardo should take a little credit for turning the program into what it is today. He made sabans job a little easier. Granny used to call him the "nose"

frankly, imo, if you wanna define TRUE fan, you want your football team to succeed. You want them to have a great leader to lead them in their fight, and you expect excellence, because if you don't....what's the point right? Nobody plays for second place.

Now, I don't mind positivity, and I root for the Tigers every time they play, whether I'm in the stadium, tailgating, or when I'm away and forced to watch on TV/computer/etc.

However, as a true fan, if you saw your prized team, the team you follow so closely and invest so much of your time/money/resources into, fall on their faces repeatedly, it hurts. It SHOULD hurt. If it doesn't, something is wrong with you. Obviously, it certainly means you aren't motivated to win enough, because the thought of losing does nothing to hinder the positive spirits of the ever optimistic yet gullible bandwagon fan.

For those of that know how it feels to be on the losing end of the stick, we don't want to go back there. We hate to see these kids who have put their time and effort into coming to this university for their education and to put their talents to good use on the football field squandered by a man who has singlehandedly been the butt of more jokes on ESPN and the national media in one week than any other coach I've seen here at LSU.

Now, if it doesn't make you wince to think about how that makes you feel, to see a football game on where even the commentators poke fun at your football team due to a lack of fricking leadership, then you can go ahead and decide that the purple and gold glasses fit just fine, drink your koolaid, and enjoy LSU's good name getting drug through every national outlet so far.

I hope it galvanizes the players. I hope they beat everyone's motherfricking arse this year in spite of the idiocy that is Les Miles. I root for those students every time they're on the field, and I pray that Miles will get the frick out of their way. I hope the media storm this week (b/c trust me they aren't blind to it) lights the fire that helps them rip Florida to shreds and send Alabama back to hell from whence it came.

But I'll be damned if I see one more person try to dismiss this shite as "well let's stop being negative and just enjoy the year." Goddammit, if you're a real fricking fan, it should tear you up inside to see those students running around not knowing what to do time after time after time. It's not fair to them, it's not really fair to Miles himself, it's not fair to this university and it's not fair to us as fans.

For frick's sake, be proud to be a goddamn Tiger.

Stand up for Tigers. Be a Tiger!

Battle Hymn of the Republic playing softly in the background.
Images of Chrevrolets, mom, Apple pie. Tears welling up.
Can we get a group hug.

I love you man!

JK.

I think we all love our Tigers. That is why many are so passionate in voicing their concerns. Let's just say... Geaux Tigers. KILL the Gators.

You didn't leave when Miami waxed our arse in the 1988 by a score of 44 - 3 in a driving rainstorm? I didn't see you then and I knew everyone left in the stadium.

Awesome.....I was at that game. We stayed until the end in the pouring rain....made a dance line and acted like jackasses. It was fun, but the football was turribull. The stands were pretty empty by the end.

"I am the closest you can get to be a true tiger fan"

Here we go again with the "I'm a better fan than you" BS.

"I was born and raised in Baton Rouge and still live here"

That tells me all I want to know. You're one of the obsessive-compulsives whose entire existence revolves around LSU sports. I just can't imagine spending my entire life in BRLA?

"I graduated from LSU with 3 degrees"

You got me beat there. I only have one.

"I went to school there for 7 years. I have followed the football team since the 80's"

Got you beat on those. I went to school FT and PT, from 74-82. Attended LSU for one reason.(To play in TGBFTL) The school didn't offer the major or even any individual classes in the subject I was interested in studying, but I attended anyway mainly for the overall experience. Went on to represent LSU down on the Tiger Stadium turf for 8 seasons. I have followed the football team since the 60's. Guess that makes me truer than you, huh kid?

"Let us RALLY around our Tigers. Support this football team no matter what happens on the field. That is our team. That is our state's team. Let us show the media that we do not care what they say about us, our team or our coaches, we support LSU unconditionally. Support the team If and when this team wins every game or plays in the BCS Championship Game who will be laughing? TRUE TIGER FANS.

Yeah, support the team, but not unconditionally. If you love the school and team, why the frick would you accept anything but excellence? You SHOULD care about what they're saying about us. It's embarrassing to the school. So, it's perfectly fine and acceptable to support the regional and national embarrassment that this program is under because of the "Buffoonery" of the Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator. The athletes deserve much better than this. Love the school and the team, but DO NOT unconditionally support coaching negligence and incompetence. That's insane, but it's the modus operandi of the "See-Hear-Speak no Evil" LSU cheerleader crowd......

I don't get people like you. It is like you want to kill our damn general during the middle of the battle. I'm giving the coaches the benefit of the doubt until the end of the season. At the end of the season is the time we should talk about the coaches and their abilities, not after the first few games. Like I said, True Tiger Fans will be laughing at what people said if and when we make it to the BCS Championship Game.

Good post. Everybody bitches about the coaching etc... that is only natural. But some of you want miles to fail just to say told you so. How is that good for LSU? And whoever said they never left a game early in 25 years in lying.

You do not have to attend LSU, be from Baton Rouge or Louisiana, or even contribute money to LSU to be a LSU Tiger. You simply pull for the team no matter what.

The folks that actually cause LSU to be a yearly powerhouse in football would completely disagree with this statement.

Let's grow up a bit and be honest with ourselves. A true fan is one that puts significant money into the system. You can cheer until you head explodes, and that creates a nice enviroment that might, on occasion , if the stars are aligned properly, help the football team succeed. The players, coaches, and admin. will bend down pat you on the head and tell you that you are the difference makers, but if they had to choose between those that give significant money quietly or those that give no money loudly... you'd be dropped like bad habit.

My worthless suggestion would be to cheer or complain at your prerogative. It won't make any differnce. For those that don't give significant funds to the system, enjoy LSU football for what it is... entertainment, just like a movie. Does it really matter (or make any sense) to say you're a true fan of a certain movie?
