and what is his total output?
i love efficiency, but you say "ridley is really efficient" and i'll ask, "why isn't he used more?"
again, it's a mess

this is complete bullshite. I can only imagine what it would've been like on here had Miles not even gone after the #1 player in the country in his own backyard. They would've burned Miles' house down.

That went out the window after 07 season
one fake field goal and going for it on 4th down when you had against UF to isn't gambling

"The sheer futility of it all is that LSU has the talent on offense to change its own destiny; it is not that we have no QB, it is that we are not taking the risks to optimize what we've got."
You may be right. I'm still not convinced we have the qb talent. Miles obviously isn't either. A risk may be required. Saban did that 01. He lost 3 games then turned Rohan loose. We never lost again and won the SEC because Bama was on probation.

If you think Miles developed that defense, you have mental problems.

Paid as in a bcsnc, top 5 recruiting classes galore and a top10 ranking?

If I'm honest with myself I have to admit the direction of the team is positive and if he gets blame for the problems he must get credit for the positives.

Well he was in charge of getting the defensive talent here.

i didn't say miles fricked up by recruiting RP, but he fricked up in not having a backup plan while he was here
just like we have no backup plan at the moment, b/c we only have 2 QBs

'm still not convinced we have the qb talent.
JJ was good (not great) last year as a true sophomore
if we had just kept him on that level, our offense would be pretty good this year with an ok OL and running game
but the coaches keep tinkering with the offense and trying to run an offense that requires a mobile QB when we have none. plus it's obvious that jlee in 2008 got in the coaches heads as well as JJs and we're too safe
you can't be "safe" with a wide open offense. disaster results

"he's a conservative coach, and has been since he came to LSU"
I think he takes risks based on confidence in his personnel.

the biggest risk he ever took was goin for the TD on 4th against UF. it was a big risk, but we were kicking a FG from the hash up close (which is hard in CFB) with a FG kicker who wasn't solidified, had we kicked to tie
plus UF's offense was pretty beastmode that night and all they'd need is a FG with enough time to get it
the next biggest risk was the AU pass in 2007, but from all accounts that was all crowton
miles HAD to go for those 4th downs against UF (before the one on the goaline). we were down and running out of time

Right. I can't believe people are actually saying this.

i give miles credit for realizing he made a HORRIBLE mistake and dealing with it quickly
he still made a huge mistake, but he did take steps to fix it
but our offense was so-so in 2008, horrible in 2009, and miles did nothing to correct that mistake. now we're feeling the effects of that really badly in 2010. it is what it is
i mean i can excuse miles a bit on the defensive front. he's an offensive coach who got emotional with mallory and i'm guessing mallory put on a great sales job. plus les didn't want to have to fire his buds doug and brad (had he hired another DC, this likely would have happened). i get it. he made a horrible mistake, and fixed it
but he should understand offense, and we're in no man's land right now. and it just feels like there isn't a light at the end of the tunnel (no QBs of the future to look towards, more tinkering with the offense, regression of JJ, etc)

Being arrogant or cocky does not equal being a piece of shite.

The attrition at QB and o-line has hurt...i'll give you that.
