The Maroon Tide. They've gotten better the past decade or so, especially now that half of St. Benard Parish lives in south Pearl River County after Katrina.

Chalmette High has the best stadium in the state. It seats like 5000 and they added a video board and ribbon board last season.

Will Mississippi State move some home games there?

good riddance
i'm glad that katrina happened for one reason... it showed who truly cared enough for the parish to come back, and if katrina couldn't drive them away, nothing would
pearl river county has the former chalmette coach eric collins who led us to our first ever 10-0 regular season and three district championships in his 6 years there

i don't think we have the best... we can't show replays on it and we don't have a ribbon board
but right now they're renovating a few parts. this season visiting fans might have to use porta potties
from the website
The St. Bernard Parish School Board is planning major revisions to the Chalmette High and St. Bernard Middle athletic facilities, and work will begin within the next few months.
"It is obvious that the stadiums received damage during Katrina, and now that school construction is well underway, we can focus on the football and baseball stadiums," said School Board Architect Albert Carey.
Carey said that structural engineers have inspected each of the stadiums and that they are stable and none call for replacement. Some concrete and rust damage needs repair at both sites, and some of the steps leading up into the seating areas also need replacement at Chalmette High. St. Bernard Middle's track and football and baseball fields will also be redone.
"The stadiums are stable and do not need to be replaced. However, some repair work is warranted so that we can continue to seat people and host sporting events now and into the future," he said. The work will also lead to new concession areas, new press boxes, locker rooms, bathrooms, and other repairs.
Architect Michael Lachin, who designed the 9th-Grade Academy, is also completing designs for repair work to the stadiums. Lachin is also putting together plans for repairs to the 10-12th grade classroom building at Chalmette High, including upgrading science labs and the cafeteria. Plans are also on tap for two new athletic field houses on site at the football and baseball fields.
The Board hopes work on the stadiums will begin immediately and has directed architects to work around sports seasons. Contractors will be chosen in the next few months.

Seems nice as shite, better than the POS fields where I went to HS.
Is this OP opinion or was there a vote of 'best/nicest' facilities?

Opinion, but Its the newest stadium and has the most reserved seating/Chairback seats of any HS in Mississippi.

Nice to see Petal has their priorities in order...$7 million for a new football stadium for a middle of the pack football school and I read that they have laid off a number of teachers for the 2010-11 school year...great job Mississippi.

Looks pretty nice. I definitely prefer stadiums that don't have the tracks around the field...it puts the spectators a lot closer to the action.

Has to be West Monroe's. Some schools in the state play in State/city owned stadiums that are bigger but they probably have the biggest owned by the school.
There are many nice stadiums throughout La. (not Texas sized but nice). Hahnville and Destrehan have identical stadiums that seat about 7000 and have field turf, Zachary is nice. All of the LaFourche schools have good sized stadiums (they are older) with grass fields.

USL. The best use for their stadium is when they play local HS games there.

I'm not too sure that it is West Monroe's. Looking at the stadium from Google Maps/Bing Maps and having been there several years back, I think some of the stadiums in the New Orleans area and Bayou region could be bigger...unless WM has done some expansion in recent years. What's the official capacity at WM?

I have a friend who coaches and teaches at Petal and They did not lay off any teachers, Unlike many other districts in Mississippi. Teachers gave up 3 days of their salary in order than no one lost their job. They also did no rehire for retiring teachers or teachers who left the district.
ETA: Petal is one of the top academic school districts in the State of Mississippi, has one of the best bands in the State and also has a great baseball program (Won 6A title this past spring) Id send my kids there if I had any kids.
