For me, its Thistlewaite, Dewey Wills (Saline), Indian Bayou, and Tensas. I want to go for either sex to Oauchita.

I have a camp in Indian Bayou and wanted to know if anyone else hunted there.

The hunting club I hunt in St. James borders Maurepas WMA. I made a couple of slips through their last year when the water was high. Saw some does and a small buck, but didn't shoot anything off it.

I used to make my opening squirrel weekend at West Bay, then they logged too much of it for me.
Good times there. We have a group of about 20 split between two camps for opening squirrel in Saline.

Squirrel hunt in saline opening weekend, but haven't been in years. Would like to start that tradition back up.

Hunted red river and bayou cocodrie in the past. Lately, the only one I've hunted is red dirt.

Big Branch and Pearl River, going to try Thistlewaite this year. Herd good things about it. You are allowed to rifle hunt correct?

Yes. I believe it' 6pt or better for bucks only, and there usually is 3 weekends for either sex. Thanksgiving, and around Christmas. I live 20-30 minutes away..I hunt squirrels there pretty often.

I forgot those weren't WMAs...

I love hunting Lake Ophelia. It's so nice to get away from the piney woods sometimes.

I used to do that. We camped in that place across from Indigo bayou on big saline. We would fish in the afternoon in duck lake and Bay Bay's (sp?)

When the river comes up on my lease I hunt the hills in Tunica WMA north of St. Francisville. The hills are brutal but it's an awesome area to hunt with a pretty good deer population.

Sandy Creek in SW MS. I mostly turkey hunt and it stays crowded but always has birds. I see plenty of deer sign in the Spring.

Weren't there only like 2 deer killed on Oauchita in the 08-09 season? I may be mistaken and I haven't seen this year's harvest.
