He did what he could on the field. There's no reason to trash him or wish him out of BTR.

I still say I find it amazing that people will defend Booty, but see absolutely no problem with raking a current team member over the coals and booing him in warm-ups!!

So far the RP fiasco has only set us back 2 years. Booty set us back about 5.

What? Let's see, Booty came to LSU in 1999, had a terrible season behind a terrible OLine with a terrible dc. Then he has an all-sec year in 2000, then left for the NFL, and in 2001 LSU wins the SEC.

Explain how Booty set us back 5 years.

Booty was older, cocky, self-entitled, had a little bit of money, what not....it's not that far fetched.

By not coming to LSU out of high school...we had zero quarterbacks when he came out of high school...but when he finally decided to go to LSU we had 2 NFL quarterbacks in his same year classification.

LSU went 8-4 in 2000 that was a GREAT season after going 3-8 the year before

BTW Booty did not play in 1999 until it was clear that Davey and Nall were not up to the task.

Davey started every game until the Auburn fiasco in which Davey was replaced by Booty after he was playing aweful. Booty wasnt handed the position like you try to claim.

Nope, Craig Nall had a 17-7 halftime lead against San Jose State and got pulled...I thought it was all about winning...how does a quarterback get pulled winning 17-7

oh my god. really? is this the best you can do? when you're drafted 5th overall in the first round out of high school, you fricking go.

we had played two games prior to auburn, against san jose state and north texas. all the quarterbacks shared time in those games (as is always the case in shite games like that), so if you're really trying to split hairs with this, then so be it

By those standards Booty was also an NFL QB being drafted in the 6th round. Davey never amounted to shite in the NFL. Nall has like 29 career pass attempts. If he was so bad then what good would it have done had he come here out of HS?

I never said he was handed the position. It was the other crap the coaches allowed him to do that was out of the question for the other players. Showing up to team practice in his personal car rather than riding the bus from the stadium, didn't have to stay at the team hotel the night before home games, didn't have to have a roommate on away gams..etc.

When he started as a freshman, he should have. 'Cause like you say, Davey wasn't getting it done. But later in 2000 it was obvious that Davey surpassed him, as Davey continued to develop but Booty didn't. Booty wasn't willing to go back to the bench. He was never really known as a team player.

And why is that Booty's fault? Did he owe LSU something?

And his recruiting year was 1994, last I checked LSU had pretty good years in 95,96, and 97. To say he held the program back is ignorant.

You don't go to a program with two other NFL Caliber quarterbacks in your same classification

you mean like when davey blew against florida the week after ut, and then he got hurt in that game, all the while booty then went out and won the next 4 games

Oh and Booty has had an All Pro career?

He never seemed to adjust back to playing football after being at of it for so long. I don't think he would have done as poorly if he had come directly from high school. Easier to adjust to the speed of college football from high school football, than it is from not playing at all.

seriously? for one, we didn't have two nfl studs on the roster when booty came in, and neither were of the same classification, and neither were worth a crap when booty came in either

Booty didnt play at all in the San Jose St game.

He first played in the North Texas game and he played well.

Against Auburn Davey started and was terrible so the coach put Booty in.

As for Nall he was replaced after throwing 2 ints versus San Jose St and going 6 for 15. He was 1 for 5 against North Texas so he didnt deserve shite.
