So far the RP fiasco has only set us back 2 years. Booty set us back about 5.

The frick?

My memory may be cloudy, but Booty's last year was 2000. LSU won the SEC in 2001, and the NC in 2003. The 5 years after Booty were, well...what LSU fans seem to want, since they were Saban's years.

Was there a particular 5 year stretch that included a time NOT directly after his time at LSU that you were attempting to reference?

Then he fits right in...this place would be barren were it not for the desire to overeggagerate every fricking thing.

Which Bama game? The one where he led LSU to a victory at home over the Tide for the first time in 30 fricking years?

May 2001 — October 2004 (3 years 6 months

Well he played in the NFL long enough to qualify for the NFL pension plan. They have to play in the NFL for 3 years and 3 games.

The knock on Booty in MLB was that he never could hit a curveball. Remember watching a game he played in and the announcers raved about how he hit fastballs 500 feet (which is true he was a good hitter) but couldn't hit the major league breaking ball. Same problem a lot of guys have like Brandon Larson, always a AAA all star but not able to hit the major league breaking stuff. He was indeed a good baseball player though. The Booty's and Evangel of the 1990's rubbed a lot of people the wrong way and that could be a source for a lot of the criticism. For LSU fans UAB was tough to swallow.

LSU's 3-14 loss to Arkansas (completing 22.2% of his passes for 65 yards, throwing no touchdowns and 2 interceptions)

The most miserably played offensive game I have ever seen at LSU and that says a lot. In defense, the weather was awful and Arky kept it on the ground to that kid who transferred from Temple. Booty threw a pick 6 on the first play of the game. He was bad, but his WR's couldn't catch a cold in the cold, either. AWFUL day of football.

Some truth in that, but Saban screwed over Nall too during this time. So Lord Saban is also a huge part of the problem with the QB situation

What a waste----Dude was a parade-All-American---I believe the USA Today Player of the year coming out of high school and thought of higher than Payton Manning.

As I remember it both he and his brother had tremendous talent----I seem to recall his brother having a big game against Saban/ Michigan State in the Independence Bowl.

I also recall all the turmoil that surrounded the program while he was there.

Some lead and unite other divide and destroy. It seems to be a measure of self----do we use are talents positively-----are we selfish or are we selfless and consider others----in this case the team above our personal needs-goals-wants.

I think of Warrick Dunn and all he as done for others who seems to be the complete opposite of this person.

He has to look a Manning at his age now and regret what might have been.

Nope, Craig Nall had a 17-7 halftime lead against San Jose State and got pulled...I thought it was all about winning...how does a quarterback get pulled winning 17-7

Because Nall flat out SUCKED. I remember that game. He looked like a deer in headlights. The classic great practice player who couldn't do shite on the field. Davey was just the opposite - didn't look impressive at practice but was definitely a gamer.

you obviously don't follow baseball very closely because making a big league roster alone means you are a fricking stud. josh booty must have fricked your gf or something because this pure hatred is just hilarious

Booty didn't make the Marlins roster because he was a baseball "stud". It was in his original contract that they HAD to call him up regardless of whether he deserved it or not.

And your point is? Chicot claimed Booty was "the worse thing that has happened to LSU football in a long time. Set the program back a couple of years for sure". The RP fiasco was more crippling than anything Booty ever did to LSU.

What Booty did cost us was the opportunity to sign two outstanding college quarterbacks.

Out of high school, Booty was #1 nationally and Peyton Manning was #2. After Booty comitted to LSU, Peyton dropped us. I'm not saying we would have signed him, but he did state that was the reason for dropping LSU.

Jump ahead 4 years and Booty is attempting to get out of his baseball contract in order to play football at LSU. One of the top quarterbacks in the nation is considering LSU? Who might that be? That's right, it's Eli Manning. Once Booty got out of his baseball contract and stated that he was coming to LSU to play football, Eli dropped us.

Now I don't think we would have been a championship team even with Peyton Manning during that time period, but with the team we had while Eli was in college, it wouldn't have been fair if we had him quarterbacking for us. 2-3 championships easily.
