Why don't our players swing on the first pitch?

two reasons...

1 - you 'see' more pitches and get a read on him, making things happen in later at bats.. as just happened in the 3rd..

2 - the more he throws early, the quicker he is out of the game..

Bibona IS on a pitch count skthat is 1 reason.

Joe Mauer often doesn't swing on the first pitch either. It's called plate discipline.

Its very bad baseball to do it in early innings but once you have went through the lineup then its another story.

I have no problem with players swinging on first pitch if its become apparent the pitcher is throwing a fastball every time for a strike.

Ive never seen Dean swing on the first pitch.... ever. Scouting reports obviously show this because 9 times out of 10 Dean takes a fastball right down the middle on the first pitch.

I want him to say frick it one day and just take one yard! lol

I posted monday to accept the fact LSU was going to take the 1st pitch, just accept it.
