Reading thru this thread it sounds like they are doing the following:
1. Still working to close the BOP.
2. Maybe already doing or planning on cutting the riser above the
BOP and installing a valve.
3. Getting ready to drill a relief well to cement off the original well.

I have no idea I would like to know too. There was a post of the poly board about it. It is quoted in this thread a few pages back.

This is the interview that the survivor talks about testing the BOPs the day before the accident. I found the interview quite interesting. There are 2 parts.

Now add 5,000 feet of water and 5,000 bbls/day flow to contend with and this task is extremely difficult (and slow). Let's just hope they (oceaneering) can get it done

Ok. What are we looking at there? I'm on my phone and can't see the pic real well. Looks like an rov at the horizon bop but what is the significance of the pic?

Their setting up to pressure the shear rams closed. And the date.

Pretty informative interview. Funny none of this is on the Main Stream Media. All they want to talk about is the oil spill. The oil spill is almost a moot point until the flow is stopped.

So the string would go like this: 15kpsi formation pressure -25,000 feet of elevation losses, -piping losses in 25,000 feet of pipe, -losses from kinks and other restrictions, -2,200 psi to overcome to flow into the water. (based on a TVD of 25,000 ft. from memory)
Not sure what you mean by back pressure (wellhead pressure??) but reservoir pressure at that depth was likely somewhere around 15000psi
Since we know the 2,200 psi pressure at the end of the open pipe, one could calculate the sonic flow rate given some upstream flowing pressure.
