Heading to Kansas City, MO for a Pearl Jam concert in a little over a week. concert is downtown at the Sprint Center.

Can anyone suggest a good place to grab dinner and/or a cool bar to hang out at before the show starts? Suggests of places close to the venue would be appreciated.

Someone is bound to have way more knowledge...but my friend is from there.

He claims KC Masterpiece actually has great BBQ and there is some steakhouse on the Plaza (which is the place to be) with Plaza in the name that is amazing...wish I could help more.

Interesting aside: Behind Rome, KC has the most fountains of any city in the world (per Jeopardy a few years ago).

Lived in KC one summer for an internship. Plaza has some good places. Check out Oklahoma Joes on the Kansas side of KC. Best bbq in town IMO (and according to lots of KC locals)

Wish I could remember the name of the barbecue place I went to...it was downtown, I think fairly close to the federal courthouse.

KC is still the only place where I've had excellent barbecue.

How come you ain't seeing PJ at Jazzfest?!

for a number of reasons, KC worked better for me than Jazz Fest.

Lidias Kansas City, Fiorella's Jack's Stack BBQ (next door to Lidias)both just a few blocks from Sprint Center across from Union Station. Cashew bar near by is good place to have drinks.

I disagree completely, I checked out most of the KC BBQ places when I worked for a week there a couple years ago. KC Masterpiece was the worst by far, and way out in the suburbs in Kansas. KC Masterpiece reminded me of Applebees.

My favorite was Jack Stack, I thought it was terrific.

Am headed to Branson, MO and flying into KC. Going to try one of these places. Only place I heard of is Arthur Bryant's.
