fwiw its far more embarrassing you are fan of LSU than JH ever was, is, or will be.
1) WTF?
2) Are you gay with Hawthorne or something?

I absolutley despise you people who continously find the need to bitch and gripe about a guy that has given past 25 years of his life to LSU....
Hawthorne hasn't "given" anything to LSU. He has been paid well over those years for his work. The guy has a nice cush job with all expenses paid when he's on the road. Don't make it out to sound like he's busting rocks or something.
That said, I have no real opinion on whether he should stay or go. Some broadcasts he is fine and others well.....

Jim has his problems, but I guarantee you whoever takes over for him will have more gripes than he ever did.

It was a dig at an O-T thread

I'd love to listen to an announcer that wasn't so negative like jim is.
and i'd love to hear one that would maybe give an updated score at least every hour or so.
while I appreciate what jim has done, it's time to move on.

I think Jim needs to stick to football and basketball. Baseball is a game of statistics and it is perfect for Charles Hannagriff. And it seems that Jim doesn't like being corrected 100 times a game by Charlie.
Now with all that said, nobody calls an ending of a dramatic LSU win like Jim. The 96 call on Warren Morris home run is one for the ages. If not for him screaming Jack Hunt, the Bluegrass Miracle could have surpassed that.

I agree with your comments. Also, I would add that there is no and I repeat no chemistry between Hawthorn and Hannagrif. Sometimes I think there is the possibility that they don't like each other.

Mr. Hawthorne is probably the reason I got started listening to LSU baseball.Don`t member the year about 86 maybe about the time the tigers start making their Omaha runs.JH has put in a lot of good years and dedication.Without his voice it just wouldn`t be the same.Lots of memorable calls,he is part of tiger memories in all sports.Cant remember the last time i missed a baseball game on tv or radio.I dont see anybody in the booth lineup to replace him,Ford and Rantz are ok,if the fans want him out it should be a gradual reduction in his schedule,we cant just out him.

It is past time. I have a friend that worked in radio for over 20 years in Indianapolis, Indiana and Orlando, FL markets. He grates on her nerves with how completely unprofessional he is as an Announcer. He steps all over everyone that is doing the color for him. She asked why the radio station had not yet fired him and I told he works for LSU. All she could say was, that explains a lot.

You could also add the inning to that and still not get a buzz. As a friend of mine told me, if he worked for the radio network he would have been gone a long time ago. In another market he would not have passed the air check.

I know Jim and he's a nice guy. Do I like his playcalling? Not particularly but to sit back and act like he doesn't do a damn thing is ridiculous. The man is god damn 70 years old and calls every game during baseball/basketball season and is head of all broadcasting communications (which is a fulltime job on top of his regular broadcasting). He's not paid that well for his hours he puts in per week on average.
Be critical of his performance all you want but don't act like the man doesn't work for his money. Jesus.

How many times has Hawthorne called Didier Didio this season?
Posted on 4/4/10 at 11:55 pm to ffishstik
I was forced to listen to him during the LSU/Arkansas football game this past season.
No kidding, I turned it off and just tracked it on Gamecast on my iPhone by the 2nd half.
He is awful and I would tell him that to his face at this point. He's hung on 4 or 5 years too long and so by my rationale his grace period is over and if he isn't going to leave gracefully than LSU fans need to start making it known that we want somebody else.
I would have thanked Hawthorne for everything he's done for LSU sports if this were still 2005. But it's 2010 and he needs to be put out to pasture ASAP.

"He's fricking terrible. Hannagirff please!!!" Honkus
"Hannagriff and Coogan are legit." Lubricious
Saturday's game. Top of the 1st - 1 out, Verdin reached on throwing error by Didier, and advanced to second.
Hannagriff claimed that Didier should be charged with 2 errors on the play, in which Hawthorne finally agreed after Charlie kept insisting. Even after Hannagriff checked with the official scorer, who gave Didier the error, Hannagriff was livid that Didier should be charged with two errors. One error for not fielding the ball cleanly, and the second error because he over through first base allowing the Verdin to reach 2nd base.
Let's see, with that logic, if a long fly ball is dropped and the batter-runner makes it to third, then I guess the outfielder is to be charged with 3 errors.
YOU MAKE THE CALL !
