The former center and co-winner of the Remington Trophy has returned to the Tigers and is working with the offensive line. O-Line coach Greg Studrawa has leaned on Wilkerson throughtout spring practice to help conduct drills. Perhaps more interestingly, Wilkerson has stayed after practice multiple times to work with defensive line players as well, to improve their technique. I think Wilkerson will have a positive effect on both the O-Line and D-Line coaches and will be the catalyst that turns the performance of both lines around.

Is it voluntary or is he a paid member of the coaching staff?

If he can rub off any kid of...well anything from his playing days that would be amazing..During his time here, both the Oline and Dline were just nasty..HUGE plus for the staff.

TigerBandAlumnus won't like this. But wow, Ben is Ben and Jimmy Brumbaugh all rolled into one.

Good deal. We need some solid youth on the staff, especially a warrior like Ben W.

I want to see the nastiest offensive line in college football this season wearing purple and gold.

I hope this is figurative-Ben has bad knees, doubt he could hold that fat arse up if he leaned on him.

Seriously though-what in the heck is Studs drawing a paycheck for? I keep having flashbacks to Smoke sitting passively in the dugout and thinking it sounds like this is a near perfect match to that.

Yeah, I really hated for him to have that neck injury. He was one of the few you'll see that start from essentially day 1 on the offensive line.

Big Ben was not only considered one of, if not the, best center in college football, especially before his last injury late in a mop-up duty(still pissed about this), BUT he was also a GREAT student and model citizen. I believe he has a strong future in the coaching profession. I am damn glad to have him on the coaching staff.

You think Ben brings in a new level of hunger and desire?

knee injury, but not a ligament. wanna say patella or something. lotta "why was he out there" talk after that.

Rudy took over and I actually thought we ran better afterward (no knock on Ben, just an observation). though it may have been just a better commitment to running and finally featuring Alley and Addai over JV.

it really doesn't matter if he does, or doesn't, aglandry is just setting the tone that Studrawa will get no credit if line play is improved this year...

On the final play of a game we already had won. The world's greatest coach did that, but then again, he was always better at the end of the game than our current coach. Just ask Matt Jones or Drew Tate.

If he coaches anywhere near as well as he played, this can only be a plus.

He got hurt on the 2nd to last play against Vandy when we had the ball and up 24-7. For some reason taking a knee wasn't an option, we had to run it

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - LSU center Ben Wilkerson will miss the remainder of the 2004 season with a ruptured tendon in his left knee.

Wilkerson was injured in the fourth quarter of LSU's 24-7 win over Vanderbilt on Saturday. He was expected to have surgery to repair the patella tendon on Monday. Wilkerson, a senior, has started 41 games at LSU and is one of the top centers in the country.
